A gem of a game, even if you cannot beat it you deserve to look into the lore. Fascinating world and vision of the creators. Moved me immensely.

fun puzzles makes me feel like a smartypants

I really enjoyed this game, and I am a diehard Frictional fan. I've heard negative reviews cite a lack of horror, but I believe scares are subjective. I do think having more patrolling enemies would have been beneficial but then you run into the penumbra issue where enemies stop being "scary" and become a simple obstacle, to be exploited. Or worse yet, a constant source of frustration. Having more puzzles makes sense, keeps the player engaged. I think the problem we're seeing here is that ***Gamers*** see past the facade the games we play show us. We are trained to see the mechanics behind things. In my eyes, Amnesia: Rebirth is greater than the sum of its parts, and while you can nitpick it, I feel it was well worth my time.

The way the game's systems are intertwined just tickle me pink.

This game is one of the few games I can fully recommend. For being a game developed by one man, Banished is amazingly polished. All mechanics work pretty gosh darn well. The soundtrack is beautiful. The only thing I could wish for is for the job assignment could have more depth. I like this game because it doesn't try to be another game. Banished is totally its own thing, no zombies, no shooty shooty bang bang, just a nice medival city sim that is worth every penny I paid to play it. 10/10
