Highly underrated game. Hard as hell, nice dark & dank atmosphere. Great progression system now that it had that huge update a while ago. Worth every $$ & a really good horror game. Get it.

I bought this game because I thought it looked interesting to play...how wrong I was. This is by far one of the most boring games I have ever played. The story reads like a pathetic B-grade horror movie & is horribly predictable. The side quests, let me save you time & energy, they're all the same: find an audio diary. BORING. The graphics, for CryEngine, are terrible. I was always just astounded that it actually is CryEngine. The sound is all but broken & breaks immersion at almost every turn e.g. killed someone, or rather their head exploded when they got close to me, go explore a bit & come back past the headless body about 10 minutes later, the headless body starts screaming. There's a roaring fire over in a corner, or at least it was the last time I went through this room, oh wait, there's the sound for the fire...in the middle of the room nowhere near the actual fire. Cheap jump scares that get completely over shadowed by the overpowering sound that will almost deafen you if using a headset. The sound is either so loud it will deafen you, or so quiet that you can't hear anything. There's just no in between. The music is horrible & saying that about a Mick Gordon soundtrack just saddens me.

I spent 98% of my time playing it searching for scraps that I could make ammo, or stims (or whatever they're called) for powers, out of. Guns & powers are completely under powered & you will empty pretty much all ammo & powers just to kill 1 or 2 enemies. Powers are pretty much completely stolen from other games (BioShock for starters. Research for enemies is done basically identical to BioShock, but BioShock did it exceedingly better) & are done better in other games. The enemies were actually a pretty good idea & look decent enough, but are poorly executed with hardly any variance & even they got very boring very quickly.

I couldn't even give this game one play through, it's just too boring. I might go back to it & try my best to get to the end of it, but I will certainly be pushing myself to do so.

Great game. Got me into isometric action RPG's, still can't stand Diablo though. Love the story, love the combat, love the powers/skill point system & THQ still release patches & DLC's. What's not to love?

Not your usual FPS, but awesome game none the less. Good graphics, good atmosphere. Events running most of the time. Definitely worth checking out.

One of the best if not, the best, FPS I've ever played.
I loved the new Shadow Warrior & Shadow Warrior 2 is even better. Amazing graphics, awesome story, a huge array of unique & customisable weapons, heaps of powers / abilities (so many more than the first Shadow Warrior), heaps of funny & cheesy 'wang' one liners, online co-op and more action & exploration than you can poke a stick at especially on the harder difficulty settings.
Don't know what more needs to be said. If you're a fan of Sci-fi FPS's, especially if you loved the new Shadow Warrior, and want a game that you can really sink your teeth into, this is a must own.

Poorly executed 'Hunger Games' rip off. If you're going to rip off a Sci-Fi movie for your game theme, at least make it Sci-Fi themed. This is just basically a B-Grade army shooter...'yawn'. Also, $30 U.S. for an Early Access Game is just ludacris.

Stupid game. I don't know how anyone in their right mind would or could enjoy playing this. Achievements are glitched & collision boundries on just about everything in the game is terrible. Waste of time, don't buy it & if you get it for free with Shadow Warrior, don't play it.

I loved this game for over 4 years, but the constant game bugs that never get fixed (if you report the bugs to the developers, you will be told basically the issue is your hardware & never the developers fault & the bug will never be fixed), and constant cash grabs by greedy developers have just ruined this game. There is even a bug in which you won’t be able to collect a certain mission while levelling your character that has never been fixed…& that was 2 years ago, with no fix in sight. ‘Free To Play’? HA!! This game is STRICTLY ‘Pay To Win’. You can hold $1500 cash if you are FTP, if you have spent $5 or more and are Premium: $2000. If you want to buy parts to make mods for your gear or even soders over tier 2, $5000+ just for 1 part. At the moment, just to buy 1 tier 8 soder cola enhancer...almost $10,000. Almost $20,000 for 1 part of a gear mod (you will need 20 of these if you want to mod all your gear peices).
If you don’t have the power ‘flavour of the month’, or aren’t willing to pay real dollars to change to the power ‘flavour of the month’ ($10 US a pop btw), don’t bother going DPS (damage role). You won’t be able to get up, or get anywhere near the power ‘flavour of the month’s’ damage (not even if you have more skill points than them) which makes for an EXTREMELY toxic community, totally unbalanced game and a huge cash cow for Daybreak, who as far as I can tell, only want your money & don’t care at all about you or the game. The game is all about ‘skill points’. Skill points are used to give your character permanent stat increases which you can obtain by completing feats. So the more feats you complete, the more skill points you get which should make your character stronger right? Wrong. Like I said before, unless you have the power ‘flavour of the month’, don’t bother.
Pvp was good, until they changed it to accommodate for lag. Basically you have 1.3 seconds (not sure of exact times) to block or counter your opponent. It used to be if you were blocking, you were blocking, if you weren’t blocking, you weren’t blocking. Pretty simple rock, paper, scissors combat system, that is now completely broken. It is that broken that I don’t even bother with PVP anymore.
I’d recommend playing this game for a bit to check it out, and then go to something else. Don’t EVER pay ANYTHING for this game, it’s not worth it. Now that they have gone back to big content DLC's it's a bit better, but not much.

Update after skill point, power point & powers revamp:

I had some hope when I heard that all this was getting revamped, boy was I let down...again. What little customisation was left, has now been cut down...again. If you like using your powers over your weapons (lets face it, the biggest draw in this game is having powers), you can pump your skill points into the 'powers' tree. But if you want damage role, you better like using your weapon over your powers as that's where all the damage role buffs are, in the 'weapons' tree. This game is just getting worse over time. I really don't know what the devs are thinking. But if they wanted to continually ruin a really good game, then good job.

This game is a must have for any fan of the Alien series, Predator series, Aliens Vs. Predator series or for the hardcore F.P.S gamer who is bored of the typical scenarios of other F.P.S's. Single player is a little small, but great fun & VERY hard on nightmare. Multi player is unreal, non stop action & lots of different game types to choose from. Heaps of good players out there that know some quite unique tactics. Three different species to choose from. Pick your method of death & may the carnage begin. Must own this game.

EDIT: As of right now (2021), only get this game for the single player. Multi player is dead & populated by hackers & glitch users (they actually own the multi player servers) with only a handful of good players still left, if that. Very sad to see.

If you liked the old Dukey's, then your going to love this one. The classic Dukey one-liners are still there, as well as ALOT of new one's. Some of the old weapons remain, some have had upgrades & there are even a few new weapons. The action is full on (especially on Damn I'm Good / Insane) & the puzzles are just as hard if not harder than the old Dukey's. With amazing graphics, 50 single player awards, 317 multi player awards, killing aliens, saving babes & cheesy one-liners, this game has everything to offer ANY 'hard core' FPS gamer. I recommend owning this game to anyone who liked Duke Nukem 3D, check it out, you won't be dissappointed.
