Early Access Review
Okay, with over 200 hours on record and a bunch of videos recorded for the game, ( https://www.youtube.com/user/82nickbrad ) I feel qualified in leaving a review.

So, you've probable guessed that this is a train simulation game that requires you to build you own tracks, (or find someone who will share their save file with you,) then run trains with an economic system in place to purchase further rolling stock, buildings etc.

This review is based on the current state of the game at the time of writing, hotfixes are added almost daily, sometimes multiple in a day, so your experience will already be enhanced from what you read here.

Firstly, track laying;
The controls for this are simple to use, but allow a great deal of flexibility. Currently you cannot build groundworks, (using the trestle bridge on the H key is an option,) so you need to pay attention to the terrain to find the smoothest route for your trains to traverse, but that is half the fun, or frustration depending on your disposition, creating the perfect route takes thought and time, but overall compared to RRO, offers a more rewarding experience.
Train control;
Although possibly a bit rudimentary in that not all train controls are replicated, what we have is a physics based system with realistic feeling controls and once you learn to get the best out of each loco, many hours are to be had hauling freight to and from the various industries. Braking takes quite a bit of planning as there are only locomotive brakes to be relied on, unless you have a brakevan and a multiplayer assistant. There are handbrakes on each of the wagons/cars, but you have to be nimble to try and use them whilst on the move.
Road vehicles;
The controls on these are less refined, but having the use of cranes and a forklift to cleanup the derailments is useful and actually one of the highlights of "off rail" vehicle physics. Once you get to grips with them, cleaning up is almost as fun as driving the trains off the rails at high speed in the first place.
Environment;
There are currently 2 decorated maps to play, both of which dwarf the offerings from RRO, but on the downside, there as some pretty wide open areas that are begging for the ability to plant trees or otherwise block the view a bit. Map 2 suffers less from this with more mountainous regions to break up the line of sight, plus there is the option to place a limited amount of buildings, (the dev would like to have higher quality buildings available before expanding the available selection,) but it something to be aware of currently.
Sounds;
Well the game has some..... This is the one weak point of the game currently I'd say. Efforts are being made to recruit someone to assist in this area, the horn/whistle on some of the locomotives are a single tone that although it is an authentic loco horn, it isn't authentic to the vehicles it is placed on and is only a placeholder. Likewise the chuffing sound, now this doesn't bother me and I only mention it because plenty of others have taken issue with it, but that's something to gauge for yourself. One annoying trait that the game suffers from, much like the aforementioned RRO is that the volume of the sounds is directly related to the position of the regulator. Hopefully this will be changed at some point.

In conclusion, this is a fun game to play with an engaging community, functional multiplayer with the option to run a headless server if you wish, regular updates, a whole bunch of rolling stock with custom dedicated models slowly being added to the roster, narrow and standard gauge rails to play with......

A definite recommendation from me in it's current state, especially at it's price point of less than 15 quid.

An unsung hero amongst train games.

This game doesn't get the recognition it deserves IMO, it has endless playability with MP available, which is missing so often from these types of games. DLC keeps flowing as well as updates, definitely worth checking out.

If you have even a passing interest in trains or transport, then this game is for you.

I have a relatively small number of hours in this game, but it's still in my top 3 most played on steam, the top spot taken by it's predecessor. It's hard to believe it's been out for less than 11 months, the game get's regular updates and the modding support is second only to Cities: Skylines for this type of world building game. There is no multiplayer, as the game would not be the same and honestly doesn't need it. There is no complex stock market/ai competitors etc as that would detract from the core of the game which is building up your cities by supplying them with passengers and goods, something the game does well at.

There is a huge community that is dedicated to creating beautiful landscapes in the game which, thanks to the modding community, is easy to do with this game, we only lack the "Move it" mod from Cities: to make this perfect. The track laying and railway tools more than make up for this shortcoming though.

Despite being release just after the dinosaurs left the planet, this still offers the best multiplayer bang for your buck with so much to do, whether you want missions, racing, battle royale or just cruising with your buddies and killing random pedestrians before a relaxing game of darts or arm wrestle.....it's all here.

A great successor to Train Fever.

Like many others, I owned train fever with it's flaws and loved the game despite these, so when I heard a second game was inbound with pretty much all my complaints about the first one fixed, plus extra modes of transport, I was very excited.

With videos appearing online 11 days before general release, the final wait was almost unbearable, but boy was it worth it. I learned so much about the updated gameplay from those videos and when I finally downloaded the game, I knew how to adjust and get the most from Transport Fever.

There have been many negative comments centering around how the game is supposedly little more than dlc and that it is still broken, (mostly from people who do not understand how the cargo system works and refuse to read or listen to our explanations to try and assist them,) but I say that is all hogwash and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I haven't got the most powerful of systems, running an AMD APU without separate graphics card and have had zero issues with running the game, those that have, typically have had other programs running that have interfered with the game, rather than it being an issue with the game itself.

In summary, if you want a businees centred game like RRT, then this isn't really for you, if you want a complex system of setting up logistics for your cities, managing both the routes and vehicles, then step on in. I play this every chance I have and I cannot give a more positive recommendation than that.
