This game might be a funky devil may cry game but its still a devil may cry game nonetheless, the style and themes the series represents are all here in spades. While it might be a more western take and diverge from dmc2 and beyond, I would argue this is more like the first with its style and how it presents itself. I almost wish this version got its own series along with mainline because theres a lot of untapped potential. The combat is smooth and chaining moves together feels clean. Only real issue is that I ran through the game on hard in under 10 hours, maybe because I played dmc1 & 3 so recently but it felt way too easy for the hardest difficulty. Only level that gave me problems was the fire platforming combat section that was essentially an insta-kill if you got knocked off.

This game has a lot of love put into it, I'm pretty bummed out by the fact we'll never see a sequel but I feel like it earns its spot alongside the rest of the series, black sheep though it may be (even though DmC2 is the real black sheep not only is it a stinker of a game it's bugged to hell and crashes when you launch from the HD Collection, it also doesnt fit into the main storyline except at the very very end supposedly) the game is solid all around, as far as vergil fights go this one was pretty easy though.

Though a little dated, its top of the class early 2010 era game design coupled to ample style. While DmC dante has more in common with DmC3 dante the western take on him edges him out as an even more rambunctious knucklehead, its still dante no question. Pick it up on a frequent sale for 10 beans and experience a blast from the past

Lots of content, they just announced the second game and that they're going to be releasing content for this one until 2025. This game might not be the highest quality but there is a lot of love put into it and its mechanical depth is awesome.

You can have millions of units, an absolutely mind boggling number to see move in cohesion. literally an order of magnitude greater than the previous game, only let you have a couple hundred thousand

Its like Unreal Tournament but with portals. It keeps the old school simplicity but lets me shoot rockets thru portals. Better than Halo Infinite by a long shot, not that its saying much

Why tf does this game have aim assist when im using kbm, more importantly wheres the option to turn it off? ive looked online and apparently this has been a bug going as far back as 8 months. you might as well just call it a feature at this point. im not gonna play a game thats going to actively degrade my muscle memory and make me worse at every other game except this

This game is like xcom but with rpg stats for your soldiers, a much better strategic map than xcom and you can control the outcome of interceptor fights to an extent. this game has it all and imo it improves upon the formula in every way.

My main problem stems from how the stats work, reflex supposedly affects how fast or whether you fire overwatch or not, but it also competes against alien reflexes? how does that work? Its not that I dont like it, its that I literally dont understand the specifics. why does the enemy get an overwatch shot for everything i do? Was my reflex stat that low? should i have flashbanged first so i could run around that corner? What's more likely to trigger their overwatch because sometimes its immediate and other times its when im moving my last guy after taking pot shots at them.

the writing is nice, story isnt always clear and i think thats good. couple typos and mishaps on the research report screen though. i like how research opens different opportunities than youd initially think, you wont always get what you ask for.

Game is also too fast, anytime past the first month. Needs balancing but has gotten significantly better over the last year. This game has charm, but please make flashbangs and smokes weigh less. It does not weigh more than a wholeass rifle magazine.
