As of this review i've played for 54 hours--I first played before the last major update, in which many things changed for the better! I was getting a lot of bugs and still do but the game is much much more playable now.

I think the negative reviews have a good point, as this game was backed on kickstarter and many people eagerly and skeptically await what they were promised. I found the game on steam post-kickstarter and so maybe I don't have much previous investment in it. I will say that I am a huge fan of the majority of the changes in the update.

The game runs smoother, more features are implemented and they are very exciting and promising for future updates (to me). I miss one feature--petting magnus, which was super cute and rewarding to do anywhere to be able to interact with them and have a small speech bubble pop up about the interaction.

I think there needs to be some difficulty scaling especially in the beginning of the game, I spent a lot of time running back and forth before teleportation could be unlocked and this got incredibly tedious.

The characters are still quite bland and interactions need to be increased and more realized in order to make the game feel more polished i think. Things like missing animations, etc, all add to the feeling of the game being incomplete. However, there is a lot of time you can sink into this game with tons of features. Raise fish, RIDE FISH, Raise magnus, capture magnus, feed and train your magnus, evolve them, find rare variants and rare spawns in the wild of evolved magnus, craft and upgrade armor and tools (the tools need to be further worked on for the upgrading, it'd be nice to mass farm with tools that cover large ground), farm, forage and mine, combat, skill system, visit other biomes and islands with other magnus. If you are looking for things like romancing love interests or in depth character dialogue like stardew valley or harvest moon, it's not there yet. The tone however I find charming--minus Hugo's description which just comes off as kinda weird and I think you guys really outta cut out the part of him being an effeminate male for "comedic effect." JUST A SUGGESTION OK I have not tried multiplayer yet--I am under the assumption that it is still far from complete and there are many more issues with multiplayer than with the base game. However, even though it caused a save file culling, I am happy the "single player" and "multiplayer" separate save files were merged into one save file so I can grind offline and come back to multiplayer when I want to, without having to make a new file specifically for multiplayer.

TLDR I would recommend Re:Legend for most people that enjoy rpg/farming sims, with a little more emphasis on the RPG. I think this game is going places and I'd recommend getting it and checking in every major update for a few days to play things through.
