Game is great even in EA. There are lots missing for the final game but still lots to do. I can play all day and not get bored. Lot's to explore although this become repetitive over time, unlimited bases on Mars is unrealistic.
The other thing is that being a survival game you have to do all alone and there are no NPC's which would make things more alive and realistic but I guess this might come on final game.
Now you can explore find blueprints for tech, food, materials to build your base etc.
While you progress you find issues on how you did things too slow or the wrong way, because simply you didn't know better. Then you start over with that knowledge... well 2 or 3 times!
Game is complex once you find how everything works it's easy.
It keeps you busy even though sometimes it's repetitive or slow there are various tasks to do so it's never boring.

This game had some bad reviews in the beginning but after the updates it got better. I bought it early on 2023 so I did not have any problems.
Now about the experience, it's definitely interesting not my cup of tea though. I'm more oriented to strategy games or more creative games like KSP. This one is an adventure game with a story you have to follow. You can ignore the story but then there is no much you can do except travelling from solar system to solar system, exploring, mining over and over again.
Building a base doesn't make sense in this game as you don't really need it except somewhere to store you stuff.
So in short it's simple game you have a ship you travel around in a limitless galaxy although every solar system you visit is a variation of the previous ones. And that's it. You can upgrade your ship and your suit, You can buy/exchange your ship.
Other than this you follow the story, a very complex and long story which I had no patience to finish I got bored.
I simply wanted to travel to another galaxy but to do it I would have to solve the mystery which it was too much.
So I abandoned the game entirely. I wish they had an option to skip the story and play in free mode but not.
Also having a base could be more meaningful like you build your own ships or create something useful or important for the game.

So in essence it's and adventure game you play for a while until you don't. If you have the patience to finish the story and travel to another galaxy, great but it's just another of the same.

I spent more than 44hrs in the game. It took some time and youtube videos to understand it.
It's complex and not so well designed. It feels outdated the graphic engine and the way you can do things like build something not most intuitive. Difficult to get enough resources to build a small base and definitely not manually because it's extremely complex and slow. Just download something from workshop and which usually require lots of resources. Moreover roadblocks like impossible items to get like Auto Miner Core.
Why I have to search the entire map and POI's to build something so essential?
Reforged Eden mod made things more interesting if you want to follow the scenario but I prefer to play sandbox.
In general it's a nice concept but poorly executed. Game mechanics are the really bad and graphics mediocre. I didn't like either the blocky nature of ships and buildings.

I tried to like it but I couldn't. I thought with so many good reviews I could try a little more but the game is slow, boring, weird and complex.
I have played countless games strategy, survival, management and others but this one I didn't like at all.
Started with basic tutorials then I had to watch youtube videos to find what I should do with the basic campaign "The young gun" which was so boring not fun at all.
I have played Elite dangerous and Iiked that X4 Foundations had the option to create something like space stations industries etc. but how far someone has to go to start enjoying this game?
When I play a game I want to like it from the beginning. This game is weird complex and not fun.

First of all like all "free" games is not really free but it has a form of coin you need to buy instead to boost the rate you progress.
Second it's not really a game but screens you click as fast you can to get points and more points so you can move on the evolution tree. There is no real environment where you do things.
One thing for sure the game is addictive, you wanna get on the next level and the next and so on... but after a while it get's frustratingly slow.
Not entertaining or rewarding experience I don't consider it as game at all.

The game is point and click screen after screen. Repetition and crappy plain graphics.
Still somehow keeps you trapped and you wanna move to the next mission and the next until you realize you waste your time because it a repetitive work no joy.

Very slow and boring so much I was switching to browser. Plain graphics like some cheap online game. I just couldn't keep playing and uninstalled.

First of all it's a game you play once and never again. Simply because once you complete your mission you win and game ends. It can be done in a w/end.

Game is interesting, it has a huge map you can walk or drive but going from one place to another takes time!

Graphics are not great but decent, there are several bases you can explore and complete some task for credits.

Your main source of credits are minerals can find around, collect and sell for credits. You upgrade your suit with more oxygen capacity, and as you progress you buy rovers, you expand your base and build several buildings like greenhouse which provides food.

There are some sandstorms early in the game and a solar storm which you need to drive to a safe shelter. Other than that game is peaceful.

Unfortunately there are some flaws, on the top left of the screen you see your oxygen, storage capacity, food and water.
Food you eat from greenhouse or you buy from base. But water? No water for you, water meter is meant for the base to grow plants but still appears along with food and naturally you expect that you need to find water to drink.

Most disappointing thing in the game is that despite all those expansions of your base and other buildings they are useless with very few exceptions. Makes you wonder why you wasted credits to build them?
Perhaps because it's early access, eventually maybe the complete the game and you can do much more.

Last section of the game is extremely boring, you have to complete several tasks from research station. You have to drive and run-jump to several locations and build some expensive machines over and over, return to base and again, rinse and repeat. Once you do game ends you can board a ship and return to earth, of course you have to drive once more a very long distance!

I don't regret for buying and playing this game I got it with 40% off I enjoyed even though it was so limited
There is so much potential with all those bases machines etc.
Unfortunately there is a pre-set scenario you have to follow no option to create something yourself and replayability is zero.

I have played the game in the past on another system so I have much more than 7hrs playtime.
The game has nice graphics, atmosphere and alien worlds. Industry chain is simple although it can be demanding at times and you have to turn on/off some production every now and then especially water you get loads of it and you storage gets full.
But game fails badly when population increases. No matter how good you set your food production population is like time bomb. You have to keep building farms no end. Then winter comes and even if you have loads of food, large population eats it all and then they start dying fast, industry and services stop working because of missing workers and it's game over!
You have no option to fix it but start a new game, You manage better next time but eventually you fail again. Wasting so many hours for what? And not even cheats! I have played countless strategy games this one fails badly.
Too bad because otherwise it's a nice game.

I discovered this game just on 2019. At first I was ignoring it because of the funny cartoonish Kerbals. BUT! Such a mistake this game has become my favorite of all times along with MOO2. I gave it a try and loved it. But I did not have enough time back then and since it's a diffucult and complicate game I postponed it for later.
Winter of 2020 I started playing again and really enjoying it! I've never played a game for so long 4 months and going.
Most of the time I spent doing things that I have never done before, it's hard, it's complicate and you have to find out yourself. Of course you can check the forum at game's site and youtube but still you have lots to learn.
Thanks to mods this game has wide variety of things you can do. Build from small to huge spaceships, space stations, explore planets, build bases, mining resources etc. And well yes you can explode things...
I don't or try not to...
And Kerbals... they are greenish crazy people without them game would have been boring.
