Wholeheartedly recommended! 10/10

Nine Sol's story is captivating and kept me hungering for more thorough my 30 hours of playtime. Worldbuilding and characters felt original and really well thought. The Gameplay is smooth and responsive which is one of my biggest motivations to stick to games like this. The difficulty (Standard mode) is comparable to Hollow Knight and provides satisfying learning curve - You actually feel like you're getting better and better. Also, the skill system provides exciting new playstyles to manage on difficult encounters. The last boss fight took me a couple of hours, but oh boy the sense of accomplishment was something else when I finally beat it.

If you like Hollow Knight, Ori, Blasphemous, Cave Story etc. try this one out.

I'm and avid Metroidvania fan and this was the first Shantae game i've played.

I finished the game in 10 hours with 96% completion rate.

Pros:
+ Movement and controls are intuitive and feel responsive
+ Unique setting and characters
+ The soundtrack is energetic and really creates a fun mood for the game
+ Overall it's pretty fun to play!

Cons:
- Storyline is non-existent and shallow
- Offers only 8-10 hours of gameplay in the main game
- Some transformations and skills feel feeble or completely useless compared to the ones you get later in the game. Some skills have very limited use.
- One of the easiest metroidvania i've ever played (you get almost total invincibility towards the end of the game without any effort!)

It feels like Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was supposed to be a much longer title but production was halted at some point. I really wanted to give this game a positive review, but the lazy design choices concerning the skills and transformations and the shortness of the game don't justify that.
