The story and art are amazingly done. I played on the Expedition setting which is the "normal" or "medium" difficulty. I still found it challenging without it being absolutely brutal. But I think with the right mindset you could enjoy this on any difficulty setting. Story or "Easy" for a chill play-through to immerse yourself in the fantastic story. Expedition as a good balance between easy and hard and the way it was "intended" to be played. Or lastly on the Expert difficulty if you really want a challenge.

With that said I did find that it made little sense to create a "balanced" build for the characters you play in the game, but I won't give away any more than that.

Ultimately, it is a fantastic game with RPG roots, but a more active roles in combat. It is well worth the purchase.

So far I am really liking the game. It feels very Vampire Survivors inspired, but less retro and I would classify it as less difficult as well. There is still a lot of content for me to get through but so far it has been quite enjoyable.
