Edit 5/6/24 Sony has listened to us for now and the Devs are great as ever. Hopefully we can go back to fighting for Super Earth and managed democracy from now on!

I have never made a review in the 13+ years of being on Steam. I loved this game so much, it was perfect for me. I was recommended this game by a friend who played the first one, streamed a bit of it on launch day and I HAD to have it. Literally called in sick for work the next morning because I was hooked, all in, ready to fight for super earth. Nearly 200 hours of fun with friends blasting bugs and bots, some crushing defeats in the Creek, many moments of heroism, succeeding above all odds forever embedded in my brain. But... man with this whole PSN thing... its such a gut punch. Didn't think it would end because Sony, a giant in the industry that has made so many gaming memories growing up, would come back in out of nowhere and enforce its will on a nearly perfect coop gaming experience. The original link had a skip option and once skipped I was never prompted to link to PSN again. People who joined in during the server crisis (most people on PC) didn't even get the prompt since it was removed for server stability. EULA or not, that presents it as an optional feature, intent means nothing after that. Even more so that were nearly three months in and a vast majority of people were playing the game just fine without having the account link active. I can understand the dev's position, they're under contract with them, beholden to a degree even, but to just go along with it, bite their tongues and act like this was the plan from day one. They say the people, who not only bought their game but have supported them with genuinely fair microtransactions and grow a living and breathing community around their game, are not only mistaken about the whole situation, but that we are outright wrong for not seeing it coming... that we are just lazy and we should lie down and accept their overlords decrees... Perhaps something to be reported to the Ministry of Truth? Either way, I'm doing my part, carving a foothold in the long climb to liberty...
