Dying Light 2 is a step down from what made the first game enjoyable. The environment is big, but ugly and empty. The textures are dull and indistinct. The "Bloody Ties" DLC has game-breaking bugs. They added a para glider mechanic that is immediately hampered by an obnoxious stamina system that has your character constantly wincing and gasping for air while dragging out the length of combat.

There are NO vehicles, even less looting, and nearly every object in the game is static/non-interactive (including alcohol bottles used for molotovs). Gameplay is repetitive; heavily padded by objectives that have you running marathons between the same locations. Nothing stands out in this game. Even the story, despite giving Rosario Dawson plenty of lines, is wholly uninteresting. Was it written by Zach Snyder? Did we see or learn slightest thing about Aiden's sister before trying to motivate the player to spend the entire campaign looking for her? Was it in the prologue? Are we never going to revisit their relationship throughout the course of the game?

Everything in DL2 has been done better in other titles. Remember when Techland tried to do a battle royale game that nobody asked for? I'm once again left to wonder, who is this game for???

Solidarity with the players in 170+ regions who are excluded from this game.

Early Access Review
Great co-op game with lots of potential. Mod support would make it legendary.

Fun game, although the camera movement is atrocious.

This game is broken. Multiplayer crashes at random times for both me and my friend in another country - regardless of video settings. Forum topics on this are locked and never actually solved.

This game is great. It runs smoothly and bug-free on my PC.

However, many of the complaints about this game are valid. My friend was unable to play this game; it blue-screens his computer after 2 minutes of gameplay.

So I highly recommend this game, if you can play it.

The game borders between fun and rage-inducing. It hits so many elements of the mechwarrior universe on point but lacks some of the most important things that makes mechwarrior stand out from any other deathmatch game.

Bases aren't bases. They aren't massive round dropships surrounded by a perimeter of turret defenses, repair bays, and vital facilities/objectives. No, your base is just a martian rover with a capture zone.

Clan Wars, an attack/defense game mode, is so horribly broken that practically no one plays it. The recent updates to it just made it worse. Limitations on mech selection AND the obliterate-the-entire-team artillary aside, much of it can be attributed to bad map layout.

I credit this game for being balanced. It has a massive selection of weapons, mechs, and equipment - free mechs, and mechs that cost over $50. Yet, you can still gain an edge over the cash-flush players with skills and the right loadout.

But you can also BLATANTLY CHEAT with macros. Somehow this is still allowed! Exploit the game and alter your weapon firing rates using outside, third-party software to input commands into the game. Defenders of this say "it doesn't affect dps" or the advantage is negligable. It's still an attempt to gain an advantage and it alters the way the game was originally intended to be played. Make whatever excuses you want, you're cheating. I'm not too worried about these people because they're terrible and that's why they use macros in the first place.

So is the game still fun? Yes, but only in QuickMatch mode. And only if you're lucky enough to not get stuck on a team full of complete pansies who hide behind rocks, fail to recognize enemy tactics, or offer strategy suggestions long after the opportunity to act has passed.

The game looks and sounds good, is in continuous development - with new content frequently coming out, and can be fun with the right group of players.

So, it's a love/hate thing.
