Steam store page currently (30/09/2020) states this game is mixed reviews with an over-all 65% positive review... Please do not be deceived by this statistic, it is actually inverse if you read the reviews & the toxic influx of "positive/recommended reviews"...

I'm currently at 892 hours total for the standalone, and let me tell you honestly that this game is certainly not for new players looking to join the unforgiving community. While the game will leave you puzzled as how to cope with the survival mechanics, forcing you to attempt to google how to play (any mod will conflict with your search results), you will certainly not be hand-held through any part of the game. As I've stated above, the game relies once again on heavily modded custom servers to cater to the unforgiving toxic community who constantly ♥♥♥♥♥ on new players and their inability to learn the game. Don't feel at fault for not understanding, once you learn how the vanilla standalone works, and you finally load up that "sick custom server" your buddy tells you so much about, go ahead and throw that knowledge out the window. I have been an avid supporter of Dayz mod since it came to fame on Arma 2. However, once the standalone was released, I believe many players such as myself were disappointed.

What turned out to be a 5 year long struggle since release, many player's efforts to reform the game and plea to developers to fix bug issues, crashing issues, mod issues, and the simple mechanical issues within the vanilla game have been in vain for the most part. Once they "update" the game every 8-9 months or longer, it feels as if they are upset with the cries for change, and simply dump in a poorly-created mod to "appease" the masses. (I'm talking about finally seeing vehicles wide-spread after 3 years of no vehicles, and only within the past 12 months have we seen a small addition of glitchy-ass helicopters which can carry only 2 people). This game has the survival category knocked out of the park, and by that I mean the game is trash and those who continue to play must "survive" the toxic community, the constant game crashes, and the sincerely awful gangs of mods/admins who will inevitably structure their servers to being full, then dump a hefty $15 a MONTH "priority-queue" in your face.. Oh sure, as if $30 for the game wasn't enough, you'll need to cough up another $15 a month to some 3rd party custom mod/admin team in order to actually ACCESS the server to play on..

Once you've destroyed 3 keyboards and perhaps your monitor with anger at the game, you'll grab that priority queue and realize that 30+ other suckers bought it too. Awesome, now you're out $45+ dollars alone on the game and now you can fight for access to your game in not one, but TWO queues of players. How enticing!!

Dayz was a great mod, to compliment a great game (Arma 2). Dayz standalone simply doesn't make the cut. While I cannot recommend this game to you, I can say that I have survived the onslaught of problems for close to 900 hours with little satisfaction during said time. Perhaps this game will bring some enjoyment and entertainment, and perhaps for others the same cannot be said. I strongly recommend new prospective players to read through these "mixed" comments, and see for yourself the first-hand accounts of Dayz standalone. Steam won't tell you, but I thought I'd share my thoughts and opinions. If you had to take one thing from this review, it's simply my opinion of the game + game play for close to 900 hours.

$30 bucks is best spent on something other than this game.

Oldie but a Goldie. I grew up playing this game on the Gamecube first, and fell in love with this old western style game. Lots of missions, action, and great characters. Some points throughout the game offer free-roaming and really hits home for those who enjoy old fashioned western shooters. Would recommend.
