Pretty in depth city builder. There's still a lot that isn't finished as of me writing this review, but there's enough there already to justify the price tag imo. The cities feel so organic and beautiful I love it. I really hope that at some point the maps get rivers, lakes, etc. It would add a lot to the feel.

A really interesting part is that you can actually go into a first person adventure mode and run around your town. Very cool, the graphics are way better than I would have expected.

10/10, only complaint is that it's harder to play with one hand.

Surprisingly fun! I picked it up for like $.60 and was not expecting much. Screen flickering when it was fullscreen (Debian, KDE) butI put it into windowed and got lost for a few hours.

Edit: It seems to be working on OS X now, so I would say this would be a good buy.

It's a fine piece of hardware, but it needs to be supported or it's useless. I'm mainly saying don't buy it because it is advertised to work with OSX, which is does not. All that works is using it as a trackpad/mouse. Beyond that it cannot do anything in OSX. I like using the controller on my Windows machine, but I didn't think I was buying a controller strictly for that machine. It says it works on OSX, hell it says it's got Steamplay, but it doesn't work with Steamplay games? Really shady. I bought a game recently only becuase I thought it would be a good way to test the controller on OSX. I only spent a few bucks, but it really sucks that I can't play the game the way I wanted to. Guacamelee is advertised as working with Steamplay and as working with controllers, but I can't actually play the game with a controller on my Macbook, at least without working WAY too hard for what I paid.

Once they make it work as advertised, I'd say this is one of your best options for a controller. It's also great with big picture mode, but only when it actually works. Even on Windows there are too many times I need to restart Steam to get the controller to work properly for some games (although some of them aren't made for controllers, so that's kinda fair).

This has to be the most frustrated I have been trying to actually play a game, and the worst parrt is that there are no technical issues. I could not get this game running for years, after multiple times. The fix is kinda easy, I just had to install the cancer that is GFWL. I was willing to do that, I did that. I also ran into problems registering the CD key, turns out you need the hyphens, not a big deal. I guess it is kinda silly to not copy your key verbatim, I'll let that pass. I also made a Rockstar account in this time, becuase the game wouldn't boot without me installing extra software and I thought maybe playing "online" would fix it. Now finally, I get into the after a bit of BS. SWEET! This should be awesome, I love GTA. Wow, it looks really bad, why are the settings on ultra low? Well at least it seems pretty obvious how to change them... let me just slide this over... hmm... again?... That's weird... Why everytime I change the settings do they instantly change back? I don't want to play at 640p... I can't change anything... Well whatever it doesn't really matter I just want to play the game I know it will be fun. Let's start the game!!! What is this? GFWL, oh yeah I had to go out of my way to install that so that the game would even boot. Oh, you want me to sign in? I'd rather not, it's been years at this point, and I've only finally gotten into the game. Hmm? Are you saying that I can't save? You're saying that I cannot play this singleplayer game, well I can play it, but I'll have to start over every time, unless I log into my GFWL account that I haven't used in years, and never want to use? Well, maybe I could try? Oh this isn't the right password? Well you know what screw you and screw your game! I can't believe I've owned this game for so damn long, and I've never had the patience to actually sit down and put up with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to play it. I cannot imagine any more frustrating of an experience. It is actually easier to pirate this game I bet, rather than buy it and play it on PC. This is a scam to be honest. The fact that I actually paid money for software that has done nothing but frustrate me really bothers me. I wish that Steam wouldn't sell "games" that don't work. I shouldn't have to install my own frameworks in order to play a AAA title. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be able to save in a single-player game. I hit Play (Offline) and this "game" has the audacity to ask me to sign into a service right after that. I should be able to actually change the settings in my game, not be tormented by a screen with all the option but none of them work. Terrible everything, least fun I've had with any game really ever.

I'm not going to go in depth with this review. Suffice to say, this is probably the best free to play game available right now, anywhere. It's extremely deep once you start to understand the some of the later game. There is always new stuff happening too. I've played this multiple seperate times since it came out and have supported the developers too (and I would recommend you do the same).

At first I thought it was cool, but only played for a bit, never beating the game. Now I'm getting really into it though, moreso than I thought I would when I first played. I would say that the comparision to Diablo 2 is very accurate, and this game has the ability to surpass the memory of D2: LoD if the developers do their job right.

Give it a try, expect to be confused and maybe even overwhelmed. But just have fun with it, don't worry about getting your build wrong or right, just play what you want. I promise once you catch on to making more powerful characters you will start to need your fix every now and again :P.

Update: after a few years I look back at this game very fondly. It is one of my favorite games. I don't know why exactly but it is just so dang good. It's not super deep so I can't spend too much time with it, but the game is exactly what I want. I can't wait until this studio publishes something new.

I grew up on games like Zeus and Poseidon, Pharaoh and Cleopatra, and the Anno Series. This game is very much in the same genre, but the focus is much more on the people and the "economy." For me this is a huge plus. The way that everything is managed (very number oriented) makes for huge amounts of depth. Definitely worth a buy.

Bonus points if the dev releases a Linux version (which I am hopeful he will).
