Review after finishing one round that took 20 hours. Overall the gameplay seems ok but the ending felt underwhelming and abrupt due to only 3 ages being available. This game lacks the final age, which i guess will likely come via a DLC. Will recommend the game but only just.

Game settings:
- Viceroy difficulty
- Standard speed
- Fractal Map
- Used Benjamin Franklin

Good:
- Combat is fun and much improved from previous version
- Graphics looks good
- Seems to have lots of replayability with the different leaders, civilisations and legacy paths.

Can be improved:
Religion
- Gameplay is weak. It seems to disappear in the modern age. Cities are easily converted by missionaries and it can be annoying to keep on converting your cities back.
- UI isn't great to know which tiles are urban and rural as you need to convert both to fully spread the religion in the city/town.
- Can't convert if city is holy city or being razed but you can't tell easily from the map.

Legacy path
- Insufficient info on how to complete the mission (e.g. placing specialists outside of city centers, what does that mean?)
- Explanation on how to complete the mission must be better. Civlopedia doesn't provide sufficient info.

UI
- No way to know which tile is urban/rural or district/quarter just by looking at the map. Overall a lack of map lens as compared to previous game.
- Doesn't tell you the yield you lose if you overbuild or what the new overall yield of the tile will be.
- Unique quarters need 2 buildings on the same tile but after you built the first one, when trying to build the second building it doesn't remind you where the first one was placed so you need to hover over all tiles to find it.
- You are not told what was your city's previous production so either you have to remember or just live with it.

Game settings
- Serious lack of settings to choose and customise your game. What happened to the abundance of settings from the previous games?

Others
- World and natural wonders seems to be few and far between in the game and choices are not the typical, famous ones.
- No way to deal with natural disasters like the previous games (e.g. building barriers)
- No missiles/nuclear weapons. Well, there is the operation ivy/Manhattan project but only if you go down thee militaristic legacy paths, which you might not want to do so during your gameplay. I finished with an economic victory well before the Manhattan project was completed.

Yeah, this review really is tinged with tons of cope. In general, the vast majority of positive reviews are from old people (talking about those 60+) who are in the period of life where they just "settle" for mediocre, and thus if they spend a lot of money on things they cope in order to justify the expenditure.

OR, the reviews are from literal children who want to be contrarian and want to "stick it to the past fanbase" by acting like any criticism is somehow hateful ranting and should be ignored. They don't care about the price-scheme of the game and DLCs since they get their money from their parents, so fair prices mean nothing to them.

Thing is, real fans of the franchise criticize the game due to wanting things to get better...we don't want to settle, we don't want to have to wait another 5 to 10 years to get a good civ game again. Positive reviews don't help anyone, all it does is tell them that they can continue to not do anything to address the real issues the game has.

I recommend the trash i put out this morning for the garbage truck, just barely. If you go through the bag you may just find half eaten/spoiled food and unfinished paperwork that is no longer needed or outdated. you may not even be able to clearly recognise what your looking at but you should be able to figure out what it is if you stare at it and examine it for long enough.... eventually... I hope....

But the Most important reason i recommend is because im charging you $100 to take a look to see whats inside !!!!

( not trying to troll here just putting things into perspective, meaning, this is how I interpreted your review ).

military victory ends im pretty sure once you build the Manhattan project. you no longer defeat all civs.

This game is just a bad copy of HumanKind and ruined every good things about CIV legacy! I hope they can fix and save the CIV legacy.
