When will they ever give us the ability to not have control taken away if you visit an area for the 1000th time?

Probably never.

Game is fun and cozy exploration game, even more fun with friends.
I suggest not spending more than 1 hour per day, because the game fatigue builds up pretty quickly.

Also the micro transactions are quite expensive, with sets costing up to 25€ and single capes around 10€. And like any other game nowadays it needs to have a battle pass that gate keeps content for people late to the party. I would appreciate that seasons do not expire and can be completed anytime. This all feels a bit predatory

If you are here for the story, the exploration, meeting random people on your way to the peak and making friends, then this game is for you.

You now can unlock tanks that can outrun most enemies and are nearly invincible.
It feels like you are fighting medieval empires with ww2 technology that is infused with death magic.

The art style is very good and the design of the areas does allow you the find a lot of side areas.
The pretty free movement allows you to explore nearly everything.

The fight system is somewhat balanced but needs more polish. Some enemies have hard to read moves that you cannot really react to, like the kick, especially if your character is covering the enemy so you cannot see everything.
These underground enemies that just oneshot you if you walk over them are just a joke and not "hard" or "challenging" but just annoying, because after that you will know that they are there.

The performance can become really bad the more is going on. Before the recent patch there was also a GPU memory leak which made the game really laggy if you visited a lot of areas and playing a long time, but this seems to be fixed now.

Overall the game is pretty fun and has a lot to discover. The fighting system needs some refining and some enemies or their placement needs to be reworked to keep the frustration down to the players skill and not the game just trolling you.

This is the origin of this genre and still the best one available even though its pretty old and some QoL features are missing like mass selecting an area to build or dig.

The interaction between the monster, their jobs and the master (you) is still unreached by most other games of this genre.

The biggest criticism many bring up are the playtime and I agree to some extend.
I would wish for more freedom in the stories to interact with the different scenes and characters.
Also it feels like the game starts exploring a concept in a chapter and when its starts to get interesting the game suddenly stops with that and moves on.
The monster chapter has a lot potential for example and there is like a single story exploring vampires, but the King, Queen, Knight stories were explored thoroughly.

Something like user created stories would also add a lot to the game.

But overall the game is enjoyable and the free update is also nice and left me wanting more.
Gut game and worth the 14€. Cheaper than a 2-3 hour visit to the cinema.
