Pay no mind to the micro-transaction outcry... besides the one hero that's a DLC (so it isn't even a micro-transaction), all of the micro-transactions are cosmetic and have NO impact on actual combat or game play... if you want to you can get em, if not you don't need to worry about em... now, if it changes in the future and does become p2w, then I'd understand the frustration and I'd definitely change my opinion on the matter. But currently they're harmless. With that out of the way, I'm only a few hours in, but it's an exceedingly fun game so far. Slick and enjoyable combat, movement is fun, excellent character customization even without any outfits, no issues with ping (granted I'm on NA), and overall a very exciting experience. You do face bots in your first few matches so it can lull you into a false sense of superiority.. but it is nice when you're first learning the movement and controls. With that in mind, I sincerely look forward to all the future content! I definitely recommend at least giving it a try! However this WILL change if it ever does become p2w-ish.

Paradox has seemingly been working hard at listening to feedback regarding this game and implementing said feedback, at least from what I have seen with Pompeii and the most recent beta. While I was enjoying the game before the updates, the most recent ones have begun to make it feel like less of an unfinished project and more so a beloved Paradox game we all love. Here's a positive review for the future. I pray I don't need to change it.

Absolutely stunning game. I was a little wary at first as this was my first VN experience, but I most certainly do not regret it! I can wholeheartedly recommend this to others, whether this be your first or 20th VN. It has a wide range of emotions, from elated laughter to relaxing family time, to more subued moments. In addition, I loved the amount of choices and how they had varying affects, some merely influenced lines or character reactions in that scene, and others had effect on the story itself later down the line. I feel the story had a perfect amount of interaction choices/sequences to make the novel engaging and entertaining. The only qualm I have about this is perhaps the voice acting which can be a bit stiff at times. Still, overall a fantastic job. I don't know if there ever will be or is (as I am writing this review before checking), but if there is another expansion or title that continues the story I will immediately buy it! In the meantime, I definitely want to try Crystalline, another one of their novels.

BTW: Valerie is best waifu!!! But Yunna comes close second...

Start the game as a custom made King of England. I'm at war with Norway and the Bastard from Normandy (no, seriously he has the title "the Bastard"), Norway has 12,000 troops. The Bastard has 6,000 in some ships off-shore. I have 6,000. Raise levies, that's an extra 2,000. Marry off first daughter to the King of Navarre. He sends 2,000 troops. Marry son to Princess of Scotland. Then kill off her dad and brother. Son inherits Scotland. That's 4,000 more troops. At this point I'm like hell yeah I can do this. Get notification that my character and son were killed in battle w/ Norways army and game ends.

10/10 would forget to move my army again.

But in all seriousness, this is a fantastic game. Albeit with a steep learning curve (I had to start/restart multiple campaigns each time I learned something new that would have helped earlier [whether that be a feature or option I could have chosen, etc. that I didn't know about]), this is an immensely entertaining experience.
BTW: If you're hesitant to get the major DLC's, GET THEM! Yeah, I know they probably should have come with the original game, but even so, they make the game so much more fun! Same goes for the smaller ones, but they aren't what I would call necessary, although they do add to the immersiveness (Unit Packs ftw!)
