i downloaded it from gog, added the setup.exe to my steam library, installed it that way (all in desktop mode), afterwards i removed the setup.exe from the library and added the empire earth .exe to my library and it played with one of the proton versions. might be that i use proton GE. to play the add-on i had to add the .exe for that as well to the library and add a command line to it.

steam_compat_data_path="path/to/empireearth/ID/" %command%

you have to put the path to the folder in the steam library in there. the one with the numbers (steam id)

Zero Enna, I read a post where you were looking for config help for Empire Earth DLC. I can't even get the standard version to run on my steam deck! Would you be open to sharing your configured?
