Have you ever wondered, what it would be like to command a "Huge" army in quasi-realistic strategy game that tries to make the war balanced and fun experience ?

Then this game is for you.

Obviously you can find some flaws in this game like the fact, that T55 can destroy M1A2 or M60 can destroy T90 or the missing features on merkava tanks, or the unrealistic ranges on all the weapons and guns for sake of balancing russian ♥♥♥♥♥♥ equipment or mabye fact, that TOW missile won't annihilate any russian tank etc.

In the end it does't matter since there are MODS on WG:RD forum, which turns this game into fun/realistic experience for everyone who is found of realism and authenticity.

Base game is good.

Modded game can be exellent.

War Thunder: Started as an air "simulator," ended up as a torture device.

War Thunder is a great game with horrible developers/marketing team. There is no other game like War Thunder on the market at the moment, and if you put aside the economy and broken battle ratings (recent example being BTR80A at 5.3 BR), the game is a pretty solid quasi-realistic simulation that is a lot of fun. However, the economy problem has gradually grown over the years, and it seems that players have finally had enough.

I've been playing War Thunder since the beginning, back when the game had no ground forces. I have spent a considerable amount of money on War Thunder, but I stopped spending money after 2019 because of all the updates and tomfoolery Gaijin did (aka Gaijin lying all the time about premium, crew locks, etc.).

From 2013 to 2015, the game felt great. Yes, some updates were controversial; we all remember how they buffed T34's armor, etc. But since 2015/2016, and this is purely a subjective view, every time I logged in and every major update Gaijin released made the game feel more and more broken and frustrating. From 2018, the game started to really go downhill. I understand that Gaijin requires some form of effective monetization to pay the bills, but enough is enough. I saw a list of all the things Gaijin did to the economy over the years, and it's quite stunning. In brief summary, over the years, Gaijin has cut the SL gains by approximately 30% or even more. Furthermore, Gaijin lies all the time, and the game is becoming more and more pay-to-win and pay-to-play.

Pay-to-play is alright. I wouldn't mind paying even 100 bucks a year or 20 bucks a month to play the game (with the 2013 grind where you could have grinded one tier in a week or a month, at worst). But the pay-to-win mechanics are just too much for me. Some examples: the bushes with which you can hide weak spots, premium vehicles that are released overpowered so that players buy them and then they nerf them after a month or two, saying that there will never be premium top-tier vehicles, etc. The list is excessively long.

Gaijin doesn't care about players. They do care, however, about their bottom line, hence all the frustrating changes made to the game over the years. Gaijin's push to nerf the economy even further with the latest update finally sparked some effective reactions from the players. I am happy that they are finally getting the proverbial slap in the face for all the "grey area" monetization, all the lies, and all the changes they made to frustrate and milk their playerbase.

I believe that nothing will change. Gaijin cannot lose because their game is great, and there is no effective competitor that could take away their players. But at least we can cry one last time as a community before everything goes from bad to worse.
