Brilliantly written, exceedingly smart game. It certainly is a tribute to Deus Ex and you'll know what I mean if the numbers 0451 mean anything to you. But it's more than that, and it really feels like an Arkane game, which is certainly to its credit. In short, it's a neat blend of exploration, puzzle solving and tactical combat. Enemies will die quickly if you pay attention to the various weaknesses they have, and they WILL kill you just as quickly if you don't.
It really is full of surprises, ludo-narrative synchronicity and will make you feel very smart on occasions. It basically goes from quite good to excellent, then back to good in its last segment. Stick with it and it will reward you.

It has nothing to do with the original Prey or what was supposed to be Prey 2, alas, but don't hold it against this game. It's something different, but very much worth your while all the same.

Yes, the game is its infancy. Yes, there is currently little to do besides engaging in surprisingly pleasant and deep ship-to-ship combat. Yes, some of the audio is most likely placeholder (although, damn, that cruiser artillery packs a mighty punch). Yes, there's the need to figure out most of it by yourself.

For now.
What you already get from this game is this : fantastic graphics on a true-to-scale solar system, seamless gameplay with no real limit (you want to travel to that mountain range planetside you saw from space ? Go nuts, no loading screen and the transition is visually stunning), incredible performance for an early access game (not even a trace of stutter on my aging laptop, and there is often A LOT going on), the rare possibility of flying both strike craft AND caps, from destroyers to carriers, and promising ship-to-ship combat.

Infinity has a history. It started as a man's dream in 2008 (I think ?), who wanted to create an MMO based on his incredible engine. Then, using his good sense, reduced the weight of his ambitions. He went back to working on his engine, founded a company, and has now just released this game as a stepping stone into the gaming world, hopefully to follow on with that MMO dream. Unlike some other space sim visionnaries I don't need to name, I-novae has the right amount of ambition, realism, means and talent at its disposal to make something really great that'll stick for years. Go support them.

A game that came out of nowhere but that I somehow wanted very badly. H:DK is a little joy of a game, with outstanding visuals, excellent optimisation... And FINALLY a gameplay that doesn't demand an LSD-Red bull mix worth of APM skills.
It's not exactly slow paced, but units don't die in two seconds, so you get time to adjust, control formations and positions, use what abilities there are (all straightforward and streamlined like speed boost for fast attack vehicles or smoke screens for tanks) as needed.

Despite the apparent lack of variety in units (something I would personally object, as there are roughly 14 units per faction, there being two factions with subtle differences in their lineup), the gameplay has many layers, and the balance of resource gathering / unit construction-research / carrier usage (they're like the Motherships of old, only much more powerful) / artifact retrieval makes for a game where there is always something more to do, optimise or respond to.

Finally, I grew up playing Homeworld 1. It was fantastic. This is its prequel, and from the audio design (guns, engines, UI, and especially the radio chatter), the music, the visuals, and the general narrative and atmosphere... I felt at home. It's more of a talented application of the meaning of this franchise onto a new game rather than fan service, and that means a great deal to me.

10/10 would grow up playing.

An excellent callback to a more glorious time of RTS, when RTS actually meant strategy, not a race for action-per-minutes nor babysitting a handful of units.

Here you get to build bases, make meaningful choices, balance your economy and get to learn and fight three very different factions. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews ; many people were expecting a clone of C&C Generals, which it isn't, or a Wargame 4, which it is even less.

Act of Aggression is very much its own game. It launched with flaws that have been thoroughly patched by a competent dev team which happily listens to their community. More changes are to come, and the game still isn't perfect ; that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it if you're looking to scratch that good old RTS itch : you'll enjoy it very much.

Come satisfy your urge to stab all the things in this marvelous first person slasher. Not only is it quite unique, it's also damn good, and backed by really cool devs, updating the game constantly.

First, this is the sequel to the Witcher. Second, this has been developped by CDProjekt RED which is probably the last company to give A LOT of stuff to its players for free. You don't see DRMs on the Witcher's menu. Instead, you get a fully-fledged extension complete with features, handmade content and stuff showing the devs actually listened to their playerbase regarding issues, which are not absent from this game. Even though it may be not as legendary as the first one, it remains one of the best story-driven, moving and entertaining RPG experiences on the market as of now.
