It used to be a good game. But they keep on with nerfing all of the damage. And making game worse with each patch and update. Instead of actually addressing technical issues, each update brings copies of already in-game vehicles and "improvements" for the sake of "realism" or some other excuse. According to Gajin, dropping 1000lb bomb directly on top of the tank, only damages mounted machine gun. And of course, it is totally realistic to shoot opponent's gun with 90mm shell without any damage to said gun.

BR rating and matchmaking deserve a separate honorable mention. Back in the day, before Gajin's "reworks" new "realistic mechanics" and other "improvements" it actually was fun to fight uptier tanks. As it didn't happen so often, you would generally have a decent damaging ammo for the gun and you would learn enemy armor weak points pretty fast (which was easier to hit before volumetric shells). Well, after all "improvements" including one to matchmaking system. Now you will be uptiered ~70-90% of the time. And due to all of the "improvements", you will have a far less of a fighting chance than it used to be. BR ratings for vehicles appear to be done based on statistics, by probably first in the world AI sky high on all of the controlled substances. Good luck on your Jumbo 5.7BR fighting Tiger II in 70-90% of the cases. In fact, good luck fighting even on 5.7BR. As thanks to all of the "improvements" like volumetric shells, unbreakable tank gun barrels, and other very needed nerfs. Only question you would have in your mind is how this 5.7BR for it even remotely can make sense.

Saddest part that it used to be really fun game with a lot of potential. It used to be a good balance between "realism" and fun. But as apparently nobody in their office actually plays the game and they refuse to listen to player base. There is not that much hope for the future.

Would definitely recommend at least giving it a try. There are some aspects that do require improvement no doubt (fleshing out the tutorial, adding some more player controlled tweaks to difficulty and mechanics, bug fixes and adjustments). And I also have no doubt that developers will work on those together with the community. But if you are willing to spend a little time to learn the core mechanics, this is a very fun game that will keep you entertained for quite a bit of time. And extremely rewarding experience.

For anyone new to series and struggling to start up. There are pretty amazing and comprehensive guides right here on steam.
