The original Dead Island is up there in the "core memories" categories, and I played the HELL out of it with my friends and by myself. As a very awaited sequel, this does an EXCELLENT job. Getting what people are worried about most- the gameplay and zombie killing is fantastic (and Sam B is back though he is a side character). I was iffy about the skill cards at first, but they are a fun dynamic that plays well with the different kinds of weapons and upgrades. There is a lot of variety at hand that builds upon its predecessor so you can jump around with weapon styles.

One of the things I remember about the first game was the soundtrack and the composer for Dead Island 2 NAILED it. It is excellent and forms a great backdrop to whatever you are doing in the game, one point that really hyped me up was when a very fitting rock song started up during a quest boss battle. It was a pleasant surprise and underscored the passion that went into the game's music.

The main story kept me engaged and went in some directions I wasn't expecting, so it gets a solid pass on my front. Same with the DLC Haus expansion. Some of the side quests were rather simple in what you needed to do, but the premises behind them and the log books/audio you find along the way were always fun. I want to give props to the voice acting as well.

Some of the critiques. The most glaring one are the weird graphical glitches that will happen occasionally, even on a decently high-end system. Like a chair gyrating half-lodged in the floor or a zombie fading into existence in front of you. The most jarring, and frankly bizarre, thing is that you never see your reflection in mirrors. I am not sure why they went with that as a choice, and it really is comparatively minor, but it always took me out of being engaged for a brief moment. Returning to graphics and glitches, to get things running smoothly, you may need to do some min-maxing, especially if you are on a laptop or lower-end system. However, I still have a blast and definitely recommend it.

It's silly, it's difficult, and it's a lot of fun.

Get the lads.
Get some loot.
Die screaming.
Your lads leave you behind.
Still make quota.
Rinse. Repeat.

It's mount and blade civil war
It is really fun
Get a few of your buddies
Hop on a server
And go to town
The servers are usually decently full for a solid amount of the day

I have been playing this game for over a decade and it has never gotten old. There are some aspects of the original SC I like more, but this game is still incredibly fun. The sheer scale of engagements you can do is crazy. For any RTS fan this is a must.

This satisfies the masculine urge to get the boys together and kill some bugs.
Well worth the price.

Are you an individual that grew up on Zoo Tycoon? Get this game. Are you an individual that likes cute pixel art, especially cute pixel art hoping around on trampolines and boxes? Get this game. Are you an individual that likes some solid background music? Get this game. Are you an individual that likes dry/meta humor in your games? Get this game. Are you an individual that likes decently-paced upgrades that have some decision/moral-based aspects to them? Get this game. Do you like it when your brain releases dopamine? Get this game.

I have been playing this game darn near non-stop for about two days. I have been taking my time with it and have had "boat-loads" of fun. It is astounding the amount of content there is for a game that claims to be early access. I have also only seen one bug so far, which was when I was able to loot a fish twice, and that has only happened once. The game is addicting, wholesome, funny, relaxing, well-paced, and has beautiful artwork. I am eager to see what the rest of the game has and what all will be added once it fully releases. I got it on-sale, but I would say it is worth full price.

It's fun, especially with buddies. If you're a 40k fan, I highly recommend it. It has its issues, as people have pointed out. The problem, as all the people spamming negative reviews can't seem to understand, is that the devs ARE working on stuff and ARE actively making reports to the community. In fact, they're working on a BIG update right now. It's taking longer than expected, true, but people are making it out like it's been totally abandoned and everyone's been totally lied to. That is not the case. Not in the slightest. Get it. It's fun. I don't regret any of the 32 hours I've put into it and intend to put many more and so do all of my friends.

Edit: The devs continue to put tons of effort into it. The latest update is really good, but people are getting upset over something that is not that big of a deal. Console has had a far rougher time. Buy the game, especially if you have friends to play it with.

As a Starship Troopers fan who has seen all of the movies and listened to the book (have yet to watch the show), all I can say is that they NAILED it. They understand the lore and the satire and did an AWESOME job. Even without that, this is still by far one of the best RTSs I have played in a LONG time. It has its flaws, specifically some path-finding issues, but they never detracted from my enjoyment. I would advise some save-scumming towards the later levels of the campaign, but I would not count that as a reason to avoid the game. If you are a Starship Troopers fan, or even an RTS fan, you need to grab this.

As a side-note, this game has a BOMB soundtrack. There are some clear tonal references to the OG soundtrack, but even without them it HELLA slaps.
