I have played all 4 versions of the Sims. I got the original Sims when it came out 20 years ago, and it was great. I originally saw it on a show called "Malcolm In The Middle." It was exactly the type of game I liked. I spent a lot of time with that game and it's expansions. Then Sims 2 came out, and it was even more spectacular. Many times over, Sims 2 was just so amazing. In fact, Sims 2 was so amazing that I doubt this company can ever match it again. Sims 3 was a disappointment, but it had its charm. With Sims 4, I find the company can gone so far away from what I wanted in this game that I can't buy the next sequel. I waited 6 years to buy Sims 4, because I wanted to wait for a sale; but also because I was very sceptical about it. It seemed to lack a soul. After purchasing the Seasons bundle on sale last Christmas, I can see that I was right. This game has no soul. The personality system is a joke, and I have no desire to play this anymore. Most of my time spent in this game was building houses. Let me say that building has improved a lot, in that it is much more user friendly and we are capable of doing much more. I really like this improvement in Sims 4. It was great. But everything else (that I can think of right now) sucks. I wouldn't ask for a refund, because I did spend a lot of time building houses and I imagine I got my money worth because it was on a huge sale. But never again. The only way this company could redeem itself, is if it were to basically clone Sims 2 again but improve the graphics, and add some extra features that Sims 2 didn't have like the great building tools. The Sims 2 had room for improvement, and could be modernised. If they went back to the same kind of gameplay, for example the wants and fears, and respecting the lore of the game (which they didn't do by giving historical characters incorrect traits in Sims 4) ; then it would be the right thing to do, and the franchise would be on track again. But for me, I will never know. I won't give them a chance to win me back. I am done. Part of me thought it was because I am too old now for games, which is true to an extent. I do not play games often anymore, except one sometimes. But it is more than that. Sims 4 is just shiny trash. Cheers to those who like it. All the power to you. I mean that too. I do not like it.

Found this game by accident, and was pleasantly surprised. It is free, but not pay to win. So it is worth it for you to try.

It's a great game if you are into games that involve you being a general manager. As for being overwhelming for a new player to the series, it may be overwhelming at first but you can let the AI control as much as you want. And the AI depends on the different abilities of your managers and coaches etc.. (which you can fire and hire new ones if you want to).
So you can start off simple with letting the AI do most of the work, and then over time start to micromanage stuff that you want to do and learn along the way.
It is a text based game, but it is also very in depth too.. which is great.

So I recommend this game if you are ok with a txt based game, and you like a game where you can be a general manager, owner, commision, coach, manager... and even a player to a degree when you play individual games. You can make choices that the AI may not have made when you micromanage games and players, for better or for worse. I like that too.

I have owned the game for a couple of days. Highly addictive, challenging, and original. I reccomend this game, it is worth paying the 20 dollar price tag.
