Early Access Review
I received this as a gift from a friend. Honestly for a game still in early access it is amazingly well put together.

This is a game that scratches the itch I had for settlement building and FPS gameplay in Fallout 4, while playing survival style like Ark. (Though I'll be honest, for some reason this was much much easier to wrap my head around than the survival and building system in Ark.) It's pet taming and breeding system feels much easier as well.

It has a lot of room to grow and I really really hope Nintendo fails in their lawsuit against the development team. I would very much like to see how things develop fully for this game given enough time for the developers to fully realize their dream for it.

Palworld could use a couple enhancements in the building and pal pathing systems, but I quite enjoy what there is so far.

I started playing this game long before it came to steam having pre-ordered the collectors edition and I have been a subscribing player since day 1 of release.

Primarily these days I do the story and small group content avoiding pvp and big guild operations.

With all of it's updates the game's story has really evolved and I think it is worth going through if you are a fan of the Knights of the Old Republic games but don't want to have to deal with the D&D based mechanics of those games.

I personally dislike the pvp side of things and avoid that part of the game. And I think their free players get a raw deal with some of the restrictions placed on them for chatting and for money cap. Though I understand those measures being in place to stop bot spamming and discourage account hacking.

Personally on the whole I think the game is worth playing even all these years in. Especially if you have a friend you can go through the content with on a consistent basis.

The magic of D&D as a game is really exemplified in this game. Not only are the original stories still fairly good even so many years down the road, but the community has kept the game going with new stories and new environments to play through both with friends or as single player content.

While the mechanics can be a little dated and cause some minor frustrations when playing, once getting used to them the game still shines as one of the great adaptations of a D&D RPG.

I was very excited to see this re print of the original Kingdoms of Amalur, so do take my mildly biased view here into account.

This is a direct copy port into updated and newer OS and graphics systems. Initially it also came with all of the bugs and some of the stability issues of the original as well, just with some tweaks for higher end graphics cards. Personally I hardly noticed much of a difference, but I appreciated that they did not break anything further. Along with those minor updates Re-Reckoning has come with a series of hot fixes where the devs have been attempting to update and address some of the bugs and issues that came with the original game. More power to them frankly, and it's nice to see them working on bug fixing.

And announced with the release of Re-Reckoning was a new DLC that will at some point be added in. Release date for that not announced at the time of writing. So that will be something positive to look forward to.

As to the game itself; the lore, story, and characters are still just as entertaining to me this time around as they were the first time, and I am still enjoying the different play styles that different armor and weapon sets give to you. Not to mention the various destiny paths that choosing different skills open up. Lots of possibilities and boosts for alternate styles of play.

I have some minor gripes about not being able to tell how much of things like damage resistance or critical boosts your character has overall on the stat pages, but I am capable of doing the math and adding things together myself when I need to figure out what gear will do for me, it's just slightly time consuming.

On the whole I give this game around a 8/10 and would recommend it for anyone looking for an action oriented RPG where the primary focus is running around slaying monsters. And I am personally looking forward to seeing what comes for this game down the road.

This is a game the pretty much deserves all of the praise it gets. And Larian studios is one of the best developers out there for actually listening to their customers and working hard to bring out features that their player base requests. Two solid pluses in my book.

The game itself is marvelously versatile for play styles, though admittedly there are minor balance issues here and there, I by no means find them immersion breaking personally.

Been playing this for a while now and have very much enjoyed the game. It does not require any monetary addition, and it can link accounts between your phone and steam to sync up which is lovely. There are new cards getting added weekly, which does give the game a bit of troop bloat and effects a couple modes of play in the game negatively, one notable one is the Arena which draws randomly. The more troop cards, the less likely you are to get anything that can work together. Also, in that mode if you already had the troop and it's traits and levels unlocked in your own deck set, that aspect is ignored. So as time goes on the Arena mode of the game becomes less and less enjoyable. But the other modes they have added like delves and bounty hunting are very fun.

On the whole I would give this game an A- rating. It's got a very solid and fun battle match system with a card collecting deck building aspect and it plays well across several platforms. It looses points for old game modes that are no fun and need an update or revamp, and the more recent trend of the game to throw pop up "Hey, want to give us money for THIS" deals into your face.

Feb 2023 Edit
The game is becoming more in your face money grab, but on the whole it still remains a solid free to play game I think with monetization not being too rough. It certainly has a decent bang for your monthly or even bi-monthly buck for reward boosts for some of the events. It's nice that you can still get decent prizes and premium currency through just basic game play and not need to invest in the game if you don't feel it's worth your time or money.

Some of the older game play modes still need a bit of an overhaul, in particular the Treasure map rewards come to mind with a serious need for updated prizes for time investment. That said I also understand that there have been some who abuse the treasure map system preventing the devs from really giving it the go over it needs. But I do feel like it rewarding orbs and some of the other new items that have come put for character growth would be a positive step in encouraging me to spend more time with that aspect of the game.

I still think this game is worth my time and would recommend it as solid match and deck building game.

This is, I think, the pinnacle of the Saints row series. It had just about the perfect blend of the great elements of the first Saints rows fixing the short comings of the control scheme, while at the same time adding in a good amount of the ridiculous fun that the series became known for without going too completely over the top like in IV and beyond. All of the modes of play between running on foot, parachuting through the air, driving through the city, or flying planes or helicopters were wonderfully seamless. All in all, if Grand Theft Auto needs a break from reality, this is a good place to come for mindless amusement and fun radio stations.

It's Whack-a-mole with a chainsaw
Let out your inner psychopath and go around town kicking or maiming people effectively. The game eventually let's you buy a chainsaw instead of a boot to go assaulting people's doorways.

The Good:
- For achievement hunters, this game is very cheap and pretty easy to prefect out the achievements on, just make sure to do all the levels in one sitting because it does not retain your high level from the last play session.
- For the price, the amusement value (especially on sale) is pretty high.
- It's not a bad way to practice quick hand-eye coordination for mouse movements.
- Since it has card drops, people who play with the steam market might be able to make back what they spent on the game selling the cards.

The Weird:
- The music is a single track, and while not bad, does get a little old. You can turn it off in the matches.
- Apparently you're an antisocial psychopath, because you start out by kicking people when they come out of their rooms, and eventually can upgrade your weapons to a bat, a drill, or a chainsaw to go after everyone with.
- You leave marks on the walls where you've clicked with the various weapons, but the doors always stay pristine.
- You can give the people you're going after in the levels names. I guess so you can make it personal.

The Ugly:
- If you have an issue with cartoony violence against random strangers, this is not the game for you.
- The weapons can be a little weird to get used to where they are actually clicking, especially for things like the chainsaw and trying to get the clocks or keys.

All in all, it's not a bad little game for it's price tag. Especially on sale. And for Achievement hunting and card collecting it's worth the sale price for certain.

This is one of those games that's either going to be a nostalgic thing for you or you're going to have issues with the way it works and the glitches with newer operating systems and hardware that the game wasn't designed to run on.

That said, for me, it's the nostalgic side and I'm willing to put up with some hoops to jump through to get it running smoothly. Septerra Core does work as is from Steam with some minor issues (see the forums). It's one of those games that I'm glad to see being raised from obscurity since I have been wishing to be able to play again but could not find my old install discs.

And fair warning, there is a debate as to if the gog version is the better one to buy due to the version patch.

The game itself is a solid isometric RPG with, for its time, a fairly innovative combat system and quite a well done story and fairly memorable cast of characters. For the combat system it might take a little getting used to, as it is an active initiative based system where characters well build up their action bars in tiers to be able to perform attacks and actions, while spell casting shows up in the form of cards that summon aspects of gods and can be combined with multiple characters actions to do alternate effects. The voice acting is not spectacular given new gaming standards, but they are pretty good given the age of the game. Expect to do a little bit of grinding in order to afford items and have easier times with later fights. There are several cut points in the game where you can no longer go back to old areas after you reach them due to story progression so I'd recommend saving often and saving in multiple slots in order to be able to back up to points.
