I strongly recommend AGAINST purchasing this game right now!
Why?

The simple answer is that AMAZON once again proved unable to handle a large game.
Even when you're happy to wait for hours, the game just times you out whilst you're in the queue.

It's barely a week since it was launched, and so far, most players were absolutely unable to log in for the first 2-3 days.
Even when they logged in, they faced queues of 800-1500 people unless they logged in the morning or past midnight.

As a result, even those who began playing, had to eventually moved in to new servers with low population but starting from scratch, only to have the same problem a couple of days later and move again.
Half their friends moved to new servers with them, others stayed behind, and some others plan to start yet another character elsewhere.

In other words, if you plan playing in the evening or have fun with your friends, FORGET about this game for now.

I appear to have about 50hrs in-game. I doubt I have played for more that 10hrs in total !

BONUS: They planned a server 'maintenance' today for 4 hours. Well this took 7+hours to be completed and then it was back to the queue again because it was early evening when the servers were back up[ and running. They didn't even have the common sense to perform the so cold 'maintenance' out of hours.
To add to the insult, their official forum crashed at the same time

Early Access Review
I would call it a rather good game with lots of 'grounds and necessities' but the freezing is game breaking. I know it's Early Access, but the freezing happens in every two shifts.
I'm confident the game will be great when it's outside Early Access.

Just wait, don't buy it now because you will end up abandoning it

Great potential, fantastic concept.
Not as laggy as some people complained about (their fault they logged to EU servers from Bangladesh).
Small playerbase

As a result, the developers had no other option but shutting the servers down due to not making money any longer..

After 5,500 hours in this game I think I’m fully entitled to voice my opinion about this game.

It started as a great game which was “easy to learn and hard to master” that had 5 positions (SG, PG, SF, PF, C and subsequently added three more, CT, DG, and SW.). As the game was free, the developers needed some cashflow for maintenance. As a result, there were standard “free” characters and “paid” a.k.a Special characters. The latter gave 40+ extra attribute points.
Each character was (and still is) able to add to their existing attributes by using three cards giving more (offensive, Defensive, and Talent). The basic ones were almost useless, but you once you were happy to part with your hard earned money, you could try getting better ones to get the edge.

Once you capped your first character (level 50 back then), the game rewarded you with a coupon to create a “paid” character for free.
You can play on your own with random people or join a crew (clan / guild etc) and be able to organise games with trusted team mates.

Generally back then, you could do rather well in game with a free character as long as you played an SG, PG, or SF so I still refuse to call this PAY To WIN.

Three years later, the following “issues” have killed off this game and no matter how much of a fanboi I have been, I strongly advise people not to bother with this game at all, unless they are prepared to put up with the following game killing issues

Latency
Yes, the dreaded ping. Low ping will give you advantage in jump ball and rebounding as you will know where the ball is before your opponents with high ping regardless how many attribute points they have into their rebounding skill tree. If you have higher than higher than 50ms, it’s not recommended you play as a Rebounder. Many tried to ignore this fact and still made a character as a rebounder but when their C was getting out rebounded by an SG, they gave up.

What makes it even worse is that those with high ping (you will regularly see PGs with 120ms or more) is that they will block or steal the ball from you due to what many refer to as lag compensation. This happens when every body in court will see the 120ms player standing safely away from the one attempting to shoot and suddenly the ball gets either blocked or stolen.
You will regularly see PG s/ DGs from other servers joining the wrong servers to boost their stats and take pleasure in annoying everybody else in the process.

The EU server is somewhere in Germany or Holland according to some so, people in Eastern Europe will have very high ping.

The NA server is on the far end of the States (can’t remember which one), so the game become unplayable for those on the opposite coast.

Crashes
There are now way too regular to ignore. Sometimes the server will kick multiple players at the simultaneously, and some other times, your client crash. That is equally annoying for those who crashed and their team mates who didn’t due to the whole team losing the game.
As I said, each player crashes 2-3 times on a daily basis, so you can do the maths how many games will be affected in general when 6 players will be in the same court. Crashing is annoying and also brings me directly to the next point.

Repeated Login
This dreadful new delight came along in the last few months but it appears to be the worst problem in my opinion.
Once you crash, the game may still show you “in-game”, and thus prevent you from re-logging. It can take from a few hours to a few days to be let back into the game no matter how many tickets you can send to the developers.
You will be back in to the game once the server “refreshes” but that rarely happens lately. As I’m writing these lines, I have been in a Repeated Login status 26 hours now. I sent three tickets and I got three automated replies advising me that they are working hard to resolve the issue etc.

Bugged Crew Menu
This occurs when all crew features become inaccessible so you stand no chance in playing with crew mates or participating in any crew games.
To ensure that you don’t get bored, you end up getting stuck in the void Crew Menu and have to ALT F4.

Bugged Friends List
This is very similar to the Bugged Crew Menu and usually coincides with it. You cannot see any of your in-game friends and you are forced to play with random players.

Rubberbanding
When this happens, the ball is stuck on you and cannot pass it. The passing animation does happen but the ball remains in your hands until either your ball possession times out or the opponent steals the ball from you. Very annoying, as your team mates only seeing you holding the ball and wonder why you don’t pass the ball to them.

Flashing ball
The ball suddenly drops from the players hand and begins to flash on the ground. Nobody can touch it until the game ends but all players are stuck. Everybody have to wait until somebody ALT F4 causing their team to lose the game, even though they might had been leading the score. It’s a game of wills.

Non starting game
The loading screen before the jump ball takes too long and all players return to the previous screen looking for opponents again. The higher the average ping, the less likely the game will start.

The dancing player
Usually happens to players with high ping. All of a sudden, the affected player will seen running towards the end of the court with nobody being able to steal the ball from him. What really happens is that the affected player is elsewhere on the screen and comfortably scores without anybody bothering him.

Deserted Servers
The biggest problem in my opinion. Due to the above issues, people have abandoned the game in their hundreds. If it gets to past midnight, you may end up having up to 20 players in the server, half of them being AFK.
You see, the developers grant you some minor rewards just to stay logged in, so people who check on platform like steam will see a higher number of players than what it actually is.

It is shame because the game is the best in its kind, however, the Developers have given up on it and just killing a cash cow but selling extras in game whilst developing the next project.

Verdict: Do NOT get involved
