Early Access Review
Product was a gift from a friend.
It is a fun game but at this time I would advise to not get involved. The point of Early Access is to give feedback and the forum moderators hired by the devs don't know English well enough to spot obvious sarcasm... "Thank you for the update that broke my game" kind of obvious...

And I get banned for pointing out that they should post in bugs..

Then later another person posts asking for help instead of just a +1 and they finally figure it out and move it to the bug sub forum.

Look I don't really mind being banned for a misunderstanding .. people are human and we all make mistakes. But to just leave me banned after they realize their mistake and not offer any kind of apology is just too much.
One other interesting thing to note .. they don't allow posts in any language other than English.
So if you do get the game just don't go to the steam forums ... and if you want to give feedback on discord to the devs directly be ready to give discord full personal information or they don't want to hear from you.

My advice is to just wait for the game to exit early access and be finished.

Update for Mistlands - Avoid the game. The design decisions are just bad at this point. Having a maximum danger RNG biome you must farm in to gain materials is just not thinking of progression at all. Visibility nil eliminates observing to learn. If you want to die to RNG while looking everything up in a guide then this game might be fun for you. Otherwise don't waste your time.

Ashland update Well they doubled down on the bad mechanics with environmental damage and even having settings turned on for no aggro everything will aggro anyway. It isn't fun, you can't explore, you can't even get past spikes to land anyplace. Garbage environment, garbage game, run screaming and save your money unless you really hate yourself and want an impossibly long slog. Do not get this game if you have a life.

Had it installed for 5 mins and already had recorded some footage.
Found it simple to use and intuitive to configure so far.

My level of experience with recording games is using a video camera on the TV prior to using this software.

It's free

Why not?

Some may like this kind of thing. Was kind of hoping to be able to play game demos or something like that but this is a puzzle game that basically locks you out of seeing anything.

If you don't like puzzle games don't waste your time on this.

Interesting concept nonetheless. But if I need a guide to enter an expo then they don't want me to see what they are showing.
Cheers.

This is really an amazing game for its time.

I was always impressed the way they transitioned from cinematic to gameplay almost seamlessly.
Had a ton of fun with it years ago when it came out and had fun again with it getting it again on steam.
Gameplay wise replaying the missions feels more like a sandbox game with lots of toys.

Easy settings are good for casual players but the highest difficulty really is a bit of a challenge.
Those snipers in the valley.. ugh.

Multiplayer I guess is gone, I played it some "back in the day" and it was kind of rough the way the worked the skills.
Still the single player part is solid.. game is short.

Also needs a patch you can get a link to make it work on Win10

Even still with all the current limitations I find it hard to even say to wait for a sale.. still worth 20 bucks.

First time buying a video product and really was unaware of how careful I should have been, and where I had to look to infer the product type. Yes the info is there but it was not super obvious this was NOT the series, just an edited movie.

Due to inability to refund such a product I feel I must make a negative review to help others not make the same mistake I did.

Lesson learned, never again.

Oh and now I have to watch it for 2 more mins to make a review... brilliant, not enough I already paid for it with the stipulation of no refund..

Just got the GOTY on sale, first impression.

I have not played any of the Witcher titles so I have no knowledge of the universe.

A friend saw I got the game and told me he liked it. Said you got to romance women in order to get more options that may help in quests and such... seemed like a large part of the character.

So I start the game for the first time... and wow is it boring... story blah blah... felt like I may as well be watching a VN... it feels more like a VN with RPG elements than a RPG with a lot of story.

Then I get to do something! I walk around a room and find a key, see the door and a female NPC with a talk icon. I think to myself "I'm not ready for this" and decide to look out the balcony. First thing I notice about the controls is they feel very console. The camera and player movement I don't really like. So I walk up to the railing for a better view, I want to jump on top of the railing... it seems to jump forward when you jump so I jumped over the railing to my death.

Then I exited the game.

I came back and started the game again, thankfully it was past the story part and skipped what I could ASAP and got back to walking around the room again. Walking out on the balcony I look a little more closely at the world. Pretty, yes. But the movement of the birds was kind of meh as well as the trees... in a word I would say a "cheesey" feel to it <when it's not down right creepy looking>. I laughed out loud when his legs moved in the bath, looked so "puppet" ha ha ha. Would make for great screenshots but the motion mechanics feel off.

I am a fan of RPGs and have played a lot of Oblivion, Skyrim and FO3.. so it is not that I dislike RPG games but this game just feels bleh. I will keep it and play it just to see how cheesey it gets, and I would recommend the game if on a good sale. If you are into story games with sexual themes this may be perfect for you... but the main character is an emotionless jerk who uses people and you can't really change that... this seems less an RPG since you can't really be someone else. You are just playing this sociopaths story. I wouldn't mind so much if I could just run around and kill stuff but at this rate it feels like hours before I will get past enough story/tutorial to do anything fun... I'm sure there is a game in here somewhere. I have faith.

DLC was a gift from a friend

The pistol is the biggest piece of junk in the game, I do not think anyone has used it after getting the achievement. I found it so bad I just refuse to bother getting the achievement for it.

If you buy this hoping to get your game to 100% achievements DON'T BOTHER!!*** The dynamite kills don't count so it is impossible to even get them and it seemed to glitch out my game. Had an infinate ammo glitch going on and had to restart.. worst DLC ever.

Don't even get me started on the bringing bows to a gunfight thing...

Save your money, do not buy this DLC.

*** Edit - As of Feb 17 dynamite kills are fixed for achievement

Very fun and funny game to play. Lots of "Easter Eggs" to find and/or trigger.
Dev is very supportive with the game and community, as well as having a great sense of humor.

This is not a super graphics game, but the game is very fast with lots of gore and trippy effects.

Enemies / Bosses are great. Game requires tactics to deal with situations, easy enough to learn but not just a bang-bang kill everything easy kind of game.

Few controls... it seems many games go overboard with controls and at times I find it confusing. This game is not like that at all, very easy to pick up and play.

To top it all off the price is great, you don't even need to wait for a sale!!! I don't think they even have "sales" since the game is so cheap... and so worth it!

Side note - If you want a game you can get 100% achievements and has cards for badges for your steam level this game works well for that as well.

This is a game I keep a copy of in my inventory, makes a great gift.

Cheers and see you on the farm!

I'll start by saying they did a lot of things well. If you are looking for an interactive-story puzzle-solving game this would be right up your alley.
The graphics and narration are very well done and enjoyable.

BUT..
The game seems optimized for a controller. I tried to remap the controls and the only thing there was a control pad. There was no way to see what the contols were. I had to run the game and hunt around on the keyboard to figure out how to do things. I still am not sure if I can do everything with a keyboard or not, didn't seem like it or perhaps I need to stumble upon combinations of keystrokes.
Another issue is restart after death. I died returned and did not interact with an object in the first area. Then in the second area I got what I needed but it still would not work, as if I had never interacted with it before. Got stuck so I would have to restart the level again to get the order right... just annoying. As if I wouldn't be able use the handle I just found for the wheel that is missing the handle.
The levels I played were completely linear and simple. You can look around and trigger story lines but from what I saw early there was limited interaction with environment. Felt kind of boring and not very puzzley.
Chaper 1 is free and worth a try if you like this type of game and have a controller, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
