I hate giving this a thumbs down, as I'm a huge F1 fan and the graphics are beautiful. I hope the devs fix the issues that crucify the game and I will happily re-visit my review.

Pros:
- Very pretty F1 management game.
- Authentic tracks.

Cons:
- Ridiculously powerful DRS, totally unrealistic.
- Changing aggression on tyre use makes no difference, neither does tyre wear have any realistic effect
- The amount the drivers slow down for a blue flag frequently costs them huge penalties and many lost places (almost akin to pulling in for a Starbucks drive-through mid race)
- Reducing fuel use frequently sends the remaining fuel further into the red, the change in the strategy has either negative, none or ridiculously high results with no indication of what you will get each time)

In summary, the game has obviously been beautifully crafted with many hours spent in the graphics, but minimal time actually spent in making a licensed F1 game actually play like a n F1 race. Until these issues are fixed, the game is definitely not worth buying, even when discounted. However, if the devs actually address the logic within the game and it becomes more realistic, when coupled with these graphics, it could become a fantastic game.

UPDATE AFTER 1165 HOURS AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST
Original - Difficult review to write, because I so very much want to love this game. Over 500+ hours in and have watched the revolving door of exiting players with dismay. Those that I know cite issues such as Pandering to the PvP'ers and making game changes to suit, whilst pretending to be a mixed PvE/PvP game. Releasing the game with SO many known exploits from beta. Combat system that feels clunky. Economy already ruined after a month. The worst forum design in an MMO yet seen, so even where the Devs can be bothered to post updates, it's very difficult to find.

From a personal point of view from the above list, only the exploits/bugs issues is a game-breaker and I have to admit that the Devs are constantly patching and trying their best. My issue is that I enjoy the PvE aspect, with a little PvP when I feel like it, but the economy is already ruined through a crafting system that allows everyone to level everything, so no specialisation benefits for anyone as you can mine, chop wood, gather herbs and make everything yourself with little effort, so the crafting/interaction element has been killed already.
As a 'flagship' first MMO, I would have expected better at launch from this company, or at least significant effort to fix the problems, but all we see is that they have now started efforts on another MMO, which shows contempt for their customers who paid a premium price for their product and now feel let down by the commercial model of 'we have your money for the game, so now we will create another to get more revenue - no financial benefits to the company of spending resources on improving this one, so unlucky'.
I for one will think twice before considering another game release from Amazon, given their ignorance towards their customers.
Conclusion: I'm still playing the game until something else comes along that takes my interest, as there are still areas of the game I haven't completed, but my enjoyment of this 'flagship' product waned about 150 hours play ago.

Updated review - Have now double the hours I had when I originally reviewed the game and if anything it has become worse. AGS have cleared up a lot of the gaming bugs, but the territory situation has made the game totally unplayable for a casual. The big companies are making up to 1 million gold per week from their territory, are buying up the raw materials, so increasing prices, so that a casual player cannot keep up. Some say "why don't you take the territories over"? Problem is that AGS screwed up the war mechanic, so it is an 85%+ win for defending sides (stats from across all servers), so with recent 'lazy' mergers, where they took smaller servers, took their territories off them and dropped them into an established server, they are left with little chance of competing and the bigger companies now have even more meat to feed off.
If AGS offered me my money back today, I'd snap their hands off. They have created a pretty game, but have shown (and continue to show) a total lack of understanding (or care) about accessible gameplay for all players. This mechanic will retain the players in the big companies, while casual players are continuing to heamorrage out, so ultimately AGS are killing their own game! (A cynic would say that's what AGS want, as they have got their purchase price banked, so any payers that leave can be victims of the next pile of dross AGS release!).
Please take my advice and steer clear of this game and until Amazon work out what all of their customers want, rather than buckle to the PvPers that cry loudest on the forums, I would recommend totally avoiding any future releases by them.

Early Access Review
I think now may be the time to finally write a review for 7D2D. As you can see above, I have a few hours in the game and have played from virtually the beginning (stretch zombie deaths =) all the way through to the latest Alpha 17.

The Developers have remained committed to the game throughout and continue to make improvements with every update. Sure, there are people that would want to see the releases come quicker, but in between, when you get to grips with each Vanilla release, there is an excellent Modding community that have variations for you to immerse yourself in.

I purchased this game early on and have to say that over the years (and excess of 3K hours played) that it has been the best value I have ever laid out.

Sure there are games out there with slicker graphics, but with the current setup, there is no lag on a standard gaming system and the need to go out searching for food in the midst of night can be a truly spooky experience. Go ahead and join the party, you won't regret the investment when you get into the full experience
