EU4 stands the test of time with its wide variety of options to grow your map empire. As of writing this I’ve only done one game (Ironman) so I don’t have as much experience as many other players but I can safely say that although it looks confusing at first, you simply have to filter out the things that must be done from the things that can be done and work your way up from there. You don’t have to min/max to “win” the game but you do have to think long term; alliances, royal marriages, and rivals matter the longer you have them and can alter the game significantly. Colonization is extremely important since you can’t always expand without upsetting someone.

All in all I recommend this game because there’s a lot of depth to painting the map as well as replayability.

Apparently I was supposed to get this as a free upgrade but I didn't. I have MOWAS2. Can't recommend a game I don't have.

The Desert Kingdoms is the latest (and last, hopefully...) DLC for Rome II. With it comes 4 new factions broken down into two subcultures: African and Arabic.

Pros:

+ WE WUZ KANGZ
+ All factions have a distinct roster. For example, the Africans and Arabians have a few units in common, but then they will have units that support the culture they assimilate.
+ Cheap chariots have returned. Now you do not need to pay over 1500 talents to mow down your enemies.
+ Better melee camels. A threat to even Cappadocians.
+ Introduction to poison shot in Rome 2. Fortunately, this one doesn't instantly exhaust units.

♥♥♥♥:

- Why isn't Garama one of the Kingdoms...
- Campaign-wise, they may have a hard time in the late game because of their 2nd cultural trait.
- Can be relatively difficult to understand how to play each faction.

In conclusion, like every other DLC up to now, these factions simply add to the flavour of Rome 2. Obviously you don't need to get this to have a good time (what are you, racist?), but I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to know if this is worth it or not. I'll make a guide for these factions on a later date.

I thought it was going to be a boring game but in all honesty I'm hooked! Thanks Excal.

Warframe is the gift that keeps on giving.

Honestly I just bought it for the trading cards.

Christ this game is bad...

If you have suicidal tendencies and you're not sure whether or not you want to end it, play this game. You'll lose the will to live in a matter of seconds....

I'm not going to write a complex review likve I've done before. I'll just say this; Empire is a good game, with good mechanics, a good environment, and a good theatre of war. The problem with Empire is that it's dying. Napoleon has basically rendered this game obsolete since it just expands on this game but brings in new things and slightly better land and naval combat. Therefore I cannot recommend this game since there is a successor. However, if you like to fight on different fonts, this game is good. Just keep in mind that it is fairly buggy.

As a veteran Total War player, this DLC isn't a surprise at all.

Bear in mind, it is a good one; the Slavs are supposed to counter the Huns in general, yet as this DLC stands right now, it hurts every other faction

+ Poison arrows come in regular and heavy variants, meaning two types of poison can be done to a unit.
+ Each faction has two units that differ from the other.
+ Their campaign traits force you to build certain buildings, fight certain factions or in certain areas.
+ Their initial difficulties are pretty interesting (the Anteans have the same difficulty as the ERE).

- Poison arrows are considered OP; they exhaust a unit regardless of amount of hits.
- The Slavs lack diversity and, most importantly, melee cavalry.
- Their general, which is an axe unit, has spear wall, which is most likely an error.
- The Slavs can be hard countered by the Celts, meaning you have to buy their DLC to be effective.
- Four of their axe units cost the same yet their stats are quite different (perhaps because of abilities).

In conclusion, this DLC has potential but, as it stands right now, I would NOT recommend this DLC simply because it is similar to the other DLCs in which its just copy-paste factions with 2 units that are different and the fact that poison arrows can do so much damage. I believe that CA will fix these problems but until then, you might want to hold onto your money.
