Xenonauts certainly is an old fashioned game primarily for original X-COM fans. Graphics are somewhat outdated (though lovely drawn) but it may even be for the best.

I would go as far as to say that it's better than original X-COM. At the very least in terms of lore (which is fantastic) and plot. Plus Intercepting minigame is actually useful and fun and various types of weapons and armor make tactics more diverse. Flat earth with perfect circle coverage form radar dishes nearby poles gives me creeps but at least I don't have to struggle with full general stores anymore.
But really it's pretty much the same old X-COM: UFO Defense updated and expanded. I highly recommend.
No psyonics for your squad though.
