I really enjoyed this game. It is a nice call back to some classic RPGs with a nice horror-theme element that hit the right spot for me. Wasn't really a hard game but some of the fights will be a minor pain in the ass (a good thing). Nothing that a little experience and item use can't help. My only tiny minor complain is you can't refund skills. It is not a deal breaker by a long shot but something new players should be mindful about. That said I don't think a few minor misplaced skills will ruin anything.

For 15 dollars is really is worth the experience. If you wait for a sell, it is a steal without question. Pick it up if you like a retro turn-base RPG.

Early Access Review
My review is at the time of Early Access (0.2.7)

Been a great year for D&D games. We have two solid 5E D&D games [Baldur's Gate 3 and Solasta: Crown of the Magister). I will offer on thoughts and experiences having played both.

I like Solasta. It is a bit more faithful to the pen and paper version of the game. However it is based on the SRD (Systems Reference Document) so options are limited. There is more then enough to work with but if you really want to play a Bard or a Warlock those options are not here (at least at the time of this review). Other limits are race, feats and spell selections. It was only a minor issue for me over all.

This game a dungeon crawler. The plot is about the party but not about any particular individual in your party. Basically there is no focus on one character (like Neverwinter Nights); think more Icewind Dale. You do get to pick the personality quirks during character creation that will appear during dialog. Which brings me to the part I love: You make all four members of your adventuring group. I like that. There are a few NPCs that will aid/join you for a time but you are not stuck with core party members you don't like. There are role-playing options but if you are looking for deep character focused development, this is not that type of game.

As for game play/issues. Only had a few I have personally encounter:

- Sometimes the pathing AI has issues. Nothing to bad, mostly minor annoying wall climbing problems.

- Had to reload a few times when looting as items would disappear if my packs had a lot of items. I got around this by clicking the Loot Everything and dropping items I didn't want.

- Ring of Protection +1 is not working even after Attuning to it.

- If you deal only 1 point of damage against a foe that is resistance to that damage. You deal 0. Should always be at least 1 damage. Minor thing but it does force a concentration check which could matter.

- Next part is a encounter spoiler: There is a vampire fight where she drop Darkness Spells over and over making it very freaking annoying. Issue is that the Darkness spell is concentration. She can have more then one and there is no concentration check to disrupt the spell. It is beatable but my tactic to win made the fight drag all forever.

In the end I suggest getting this game. For the price point you are getting a good game. It is nice to see some D&D CRPG coming onto the market. I've been having a blast playing this game and Baldur's Gate 3.

What can I say about this game.

It is not a deeply complex game (this is a plus), easy to get into and very relaxing style of play. The difficulty curve is there but I never got a feeling of frustration even when I hit the point of the game ending. In addition the music is wonderfully charming to the game play. Which is saying something as I am not really a music person.

Not being a complex game is not a strike against it. There is a level of depth in the strategy that, for me, was intuitively to work out. Perfect for a relaxing round or two of quick play.

What can I say about this game? I had a great time playing and exploring the world. Everything I liked the LoG 1 was here and they only added more greatness to the game. This, THIS is how to do a second game in a series. This is a worthy addition to dungeon crawler games in my opinion. This is one of the few games I would suggest getting at it's standard price: it stands well on its own but the community adventures really add to the value of the title.

Big thumbs up here!

This is not the most complex game for a survival(ish) game out there. If anything I would say this takes a reasonable lite take on that theme and difficulty. Which is fine in my book; I am not always looking to be testing to my ability. Raft is a reasonably relaxing game with only one foe (at the time of this posting) the shark and dealing with food/drink. For me it a fun little crafting game, building your raft and exploring the watery would around you.

One thing I would like to point out for new comers. You can't disable the shark – period. This isn't a issue for me but I could see others not wishing to deal with it. The shark does attack your raft – fine. What is annoying is now and then he attacks places he shouldn't be allowed to reach. Which will cause annoying damage and maybe cause the lost of a item on deck you thought was safe from damage or destruction. It is a early release so bugs/issues will happen.

Is it worth 20 dollars? Well, yes and no. They continue with the updated and content – yes. The game does have a fair bit of room to grow but there is enough here for a few days of enjoyment. One perk is you can play with your steam friends. Super easy for them to drop in and out (assuming you set your game world to allow it). Something that me and my brother thought was a nice plus. If you are unsure or are on a budget I would suggest waiting for steam deal to appear.

This is a solid game using the 3rd edition rule set (the rules are 3.0-ish) for Dungeons and Dragons. You only directly control your character but you have a ton of room to make that character to your liking. NPC followers, summons, pets, etc are controlled with commands and the AI is a little bit of a mess but workable. So the charm and play is on you and your character - not a party (games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Temple of Elemental Evil focus on party play).

The EE does a lot of fixing on the inside (this old game needed it) but not much of a facelift (at the time of this posting). I would like to see something to update the looks but it doesn't ruin it for me. I've only had the game crash once - that places it miles ahead of my GOG copy of the game (that copy is a pre-enhance edition).

The campaign is okay but a little boring. The two expansions for it however are much more polished and enjoyable. Hordes of the Underdark being in the Top 10 of my favorite adventures CRPG. Also if you don't mind doing a little hunting I would suggest going over to NWVault to download adventure modules. There are some modules there that are really good done by the community at no cost to you.

If you love D&D, like a single character focus and don't mind a little bit of a dated look - this game is great. I really do recommend this game for you!
