at long last ... the legend continues ... high complexity, good story, easy interface, though decent graphics and sound but these are not the most important criteria.
Bugs ? yes there are, but they will be fixed soon .... as always from InXile.
Some annoying gameplay shortfalls, like no quick travel which sucks.
Hopefully the story is long and complex and surprising, then a lot of fun awaits the Wastelanders.

Over 4,200 hours in this game here....
And that is for a reason. the game rocks.
even more so with the latest UE5 graphics update, the 4th map, the 6th boss....
And then: the most un-intuitive, crappiest UI ever.
Seriously, the new UI / menues spoils everything.
I regret to have to not recommend this game due to this horrid, confusing, stupid menues they did with the latest update.
when this is fixed or better - rolled back to the old one - I change my review again.

This game makes everything right. It is inarguably the most realistic and technically (graphics, sound system) the best shooter game and the best battle royale game in history of gaming.
(true - not a real battle royale... you can always chose to leave the game round)
The story and athmosphere are fantastic.

But the game has a huge Cheater problem.
cheats include: detection aids to find players, aimbots (you get instant headshots all too easy), infinite ammo, ... all are freely available in the Internet.
Crytek does not get a hold on them. The Anticheat software they use is not good enough. the mechanics for reporting cheaters are insufficient. the banning of cheaters is too rare.
Cheaters are spoiling your experience.
especially in this game with rather LONG loading and waiting times, a death is extremely annoying.
Plus cheaters ruin your Kill/Death ratio. The KDA is most important in this game. if you have a bad KDA, many players would not want to team up with you.

lately this got much better with the new matchmaking system. now it is unlikely that cheaters and very good players are on the same map like new or mediocre players.

Early Access-recension
Of all the Dungeon Crawlers out there, undisputedly "Legend of Grimrock II" is the one with the best engine and game flow and modding possibilities. then there are so many clones that are wanna-be as good.
However, this little gem here is by no means any less excellent in terms of graphics or nice little details. The story is elaborated, the game is really fun. Would like to see more of this.

Early Access-recension
over 190 hours played -- and it is still in Early Access. Do I have to say more ?
Yes.
For those NEW players that have no idea what to find here: Please read a different review. I will not explain the world here. For you, my simple summary is: GO GET IT! it is truly worth the money !!

Instead I will make a comparism with Subnautica 1
Very crisp: BZ is (unfortunately) much smaller to explore, but more intense story-wise (talking 1st person, vs. mute one in SN1, different story threads). Nearly everything is new, the fauna and flora (biomes), the vehicles (except the Prawn suit). It is a true new, second game, not only a DLC or an expansion of the old one.
But there are also some downsides.
They (Devs) invested so incredible much time in the game mechanics over sea level what with
- the cold temperatures and its threat (one of the better ideas in this game), however the hot pools are completely useless as they are only on radio island and nowhere else (why?), the cold suit is also not nearly life essential if you have the overpowered Salad or are using the Snowfox, which eliminates all the threat of the cold environment (*sigh*)
- the Ice Worm and its attacks (which can be simply outrun, all the stompers are useless),
- the Snowfox and its mechanics (nobody needed this but okay, for the surface vehicle friends something new)....
and all of this now it is just a minor chunk of the final gameplay. Why ? if you really want to make use of these mechancs, the oversea map should be much bigger to have a need to cover distances with the SnowFox. which would pose a real threat in the cold if it crashes. or so.
I pity the huge efforts, which are interesting to see, but sucked up considerable efforts that were probably lacking elsewhere to build a bigger underwater map.
They invested huge amounts of time to create new biomes (appreciated), new creatures (cool) and the SeaTruck (disputable if this was necessary, but why has the seamoth disappeared completely ? does not make sense)

I for instance appreciate some new basic game mechanics improvements a lot (i.e. the pinning of recipes or the really cool Jukebox), but I am missing many things that were fun or useful and proven in SN1, like
- the table fragments and keys concept
- fire and fire distinguishers
- a bigger underwater map with a very deep cave area to explore (1400+m vs. only 960m)
- the scanner ping of the underwater vehicles (why did this disappear?)
- much more Precursor portals routes to discover (not only 1 like in BZ)

I hope when they sometime create a Subnautica 3 they will not focus again on so much new biomes and creatures again, but instead make the map to explore MUCH BIGGER with many story items (PDAs) to find. We don't need yet another vehicle.- just re-use what you have.
Hugy investment should be done in developing a generic world creation kit that does not require anymore the manual placement of every single stone. with that, the map generation could be opened to the gaming and modding community who could support bringing new content exploration-wise. And underlying I hope that the SN3 will not again take 5 years until it comes.

can't recommend this (yet).
not enough FUN factor
- rather unbalanced, TOO HARD
- too few savepoints
- high frustration level (80% frustration, 20% fun)
If you LIKE being slain by some randomly generated bandit group only 10m before reaching the safety of the city, after you have played 30-45 minutes to clear a dungeon which is 3-4 levels BELOW your level and has a mediocre difficulty according to the map, just because you are nearly dead because you die of pain because you CANNOT HEAL as you are lacking the required items, you are not allowed to SAVE your game either, this is just the right game for you - masochist.

on the plus side:
- nice details in the city and many different interesting loot / items
- rather clever A.I. (i.e. Wolves that hunt you turn to bandits, so both groups can be turned against each other)
- intelligent generation of randomized dungeons, so much diversion

update: gave it a new chance.
still for Masochists only. no difficulty level to chose. difficulty level is insane.

After 4,5 hours of playing I feel like I can give some feedback.
This crawler is a nice LOG clone. But it is NOT better as some people state.

Pro's:
+ nice graphics, photo-realistic
+ good level design
+ good automapping, state of the art
+ nice monsters (attacks and animations)
+ riddles not too difficult, all is solvable
+ I like the statistics that you see the secrets and tiles to walk so you know if something is missing
+ the portals to the shoppe are quite nice
+ fair secret buttons
+ fair autosave points - keeps frustration low!

Okay-ish:
o Sounds - could be improved
o traps are too easy
o all trapdoors are deadly, no exceptions. this deprives the game much of the 3D level designs of LOG.

Con's:
- nearly non-existent story with nearly no in-game story snippets like athmospheric text scrolls
- clumsy inventory handling and clumsy shopping
- the hit/force feedback does not feel good. fighting feels like clicking menus in MS Word. in LOG this was much better.
- it may be the normal difficulty level, but the potions are basically not necessary
- no music at all
- too few explanations of spells, lack of help texts in general

All in all it is a thumbs-up, though. Especially for the price (10 bucks).
