Team based play is VERY satisfying with friends.

The game just launched in Early Access, and has some flaws in that regard. But when looking for a slower, SWAT style FPS (See: Zero Hour, Older SWAT titles, and what we first thought R6:Siege was supposed to be), this game is already off to a stellar start.

Edit: Playability issue fixed. Constant crashes when playing at 1440p. Appears to be stable at 1080p.

Literally unplayable. First hard crash was 1/2 through the first level. Now I can't even load into the first level before hard crashing. Tried both HDD and SSD.

i7-4790k @4.0Ghz
XFX R9 390
32Gb RAM
Samsung EVO 850 SSD
WD Caviar Black HDD

Will be refunding. Let down that this one didn't work, had some fun for the first 10 minutes that I could play.

Don't buy this game.
-No "small chance of meeting another player". Don't let Murray serve this ♥♥♥♥ to you on a silver platter.
-Weak flight controls. Don't expect super fancy physics (or much at all) for flight.
-Restricted atmosphere flying. It will only let you so close to the ground.
-Asteroids deal damage but I bounced off a space station without a scratch?
-Planets have no topography. Once you land on a planet you've seen the whole thing, 1 sq km repeating.
-Everyplanet has the same level of gravity. Seriously?
-The animals are just glitter on top of this garbage bag. Some attack you, most don't. They all look like section 8 rejects.

An exercise in procedural generation. Does it deserve the $60 premium price tag?
Ask yourself this, would you have bought Minecraft (If you did) when it was just starting out for $60?
No, you wouldn't.
This is an incomplete game, that got a shoddy port job for PC.
"Wahhh but it's only made by 14 people!" Well with it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ price tag they can afford to hire another guy or two.

The biggest reason though is Hello Games. Sean Murray is the slimiest, most anti-gamer PR voice box to ever come to us. EVERYTHING he says is vague ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that can't be considered a concrete statement one way or another. He should run for president.

I recommend this game on the single player. I put 150 hours into the SP campaign and it is very enjoyable. But....

If you plan on purchasing with the intent to play MGO you should know a few things.

Get used to falling back in a CoD progressing system. You unlock pre-set kits, loadouts and skills (perks) by leveling up. With a prestige mode cheekily called Ascension.
Also probably the most irritating and powerful class is Scout. As it's the only class that has the active camo, which depending on how you move, isn't super useful. But expect people playing scout to run up to you in stealth and use CQB to INSTANTLY knock you out and kill or fulton you.
The other wonderful tactic they use is laying in a corner stealthed when you approach and then shoot you, because active camo does not deactivate while fire a weapon.

If you played MGO in MGS4 like I did, and expect this one to be similar, you will be very dissapointed. They are nothing alike.
It uses a buddy system much like BattleFront, where you can see what your buddy is doing and spawn on them.
There are also only 3 game modes right now. TDM, Attack and Defend a data file, or Attack and Defend conquest type mode.
The last of which is very non-competitive friendly. Instead of a best of 3 system, when both teams win one round a piece, the game determines the winner based on the best team score for the entire match.

I do not recommend this game for it's MGO

Playing with friends in Battle Royale mode often descends into desyncing and an unenjoyable experience. For the real zombie experience just get Zdayz. The "Hunger Games" inspired Battle Royale is fun with friends, but has a lot of issues. And really brings to light that fact that this game is no where near competent as a shooter. While it is very enjoyable when you are doing well, in either PVE or PVP, it is incredibly frustrating when things aren't going your way when in a PVP environment. And if you're looking for a PVE only experience keep looking. Minecraft is a better PVE simulator. This game is uber-boring in PVE only servers because the zombies present very little threat. Even in the "infested" city areas.

EDITED

Microtransactions and a newly broken weapon balance says it all.

The good:
-Balanced assault rifles means that most of them are moderately useful now.

-New heist is pretty decent.

The bad:
-Shotguns are now awful, although the locomotive still remains effective.

-Pistols are now WILDY overpowered. They are more powerful than shotguns, let alone most weapons in the game. For instance I have a DEagle equipped with suppressor, and using a Ghost skillset, doing 200+ damage. Able to one shot anything besides special enemies (Which are 2 body shots, whoa look out!(Not counting the Dozers)). Most pistols start with the same firepower as AR's now. They are supposed to be low damage, high concealment, stealth weapons. Now they are damn near the best weapons in the game.

-Adding yet another RNG aspect to the Paydays with these BS microtransaction safes you can get. Getting one is only useful if you pay the money for the drills on the marketplace. This in turn is an insult to players.
For those of us who ALREADY PAYED for all the DLC, we now have to buy an item, to unlock an RNG drop safe, to get a weapon WE ALREADY HAVE with some buffed up stats and in most cases a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ skin. Ruining balance and trying to fork more money out of us.

Take this out of PayDay 2. Respect your fans and player base. For all we spend on the frequent DLC drops, we don't deserve to have microtransactions.

****************************************************************

Edit: The new owners have taken out the MicroTransactions and there has been a rebalance along with a skill tree overhaul.
