Game has many good properties and is an easy recommendation to all XCOM enjoyers. Enemies evolve as game progresses so you are on a race to research and get resources.

Troops can dual class and every character has 3 random special skills which are a major decider on how to multiclass - for example +1 virus damage on every hit is most useful whith minigun, shotgun or SMG.
There's a huge difficulty spikes on some missions where you have to fight humans. Sometimes there is a hint that you can bring 9th troop to that mission. 3 NPC factions can be befriended or made enemies. In late game they will go to war against others anyway.

Aiming system and hit chance is fresh air after RNG of XCOM. Body parts can be disabled and weapons take damage too - one handed man can't wield two-handed guns!

More fun with friends. Decent game with bots.

Game was released 14 months ago and it crashes every time loading bar fills after a campaign mission.
This was tolerable during tutorial, since mission completion was recorded. However first real mission forces me into infinite loop where I can't progress!

Good: new enemies to fight, augmented body parts with unique abilities

Bad: repairing augments is very expensive, quest line starts too early but you can delay missions for multiple days

Adds 3 missions and few unique equipment.
Best about this DLC? Doesn't add any anti-player bs!

Tons of replay value. When not hunting achievements, embrace the chaos created by your mistakes!

JA3 is great bang for buck. Took me over 100 hours to complete first (pretty thorough) playthrough.
Guns are lethal against enemies and friendlies. Tactics and using cover are useful. Game gives lots of gear loot, but ammo is often too rare. This is good in contrast to Phoenix Point where equipment is so rare that you have to switch stuff between squads all the time. Game runs smoothly and looks pretty even on medium settings. Large world map gives free hands on how player wants to progress.

Negatives: critical hits can easily wipe out your squad if playing on iron man mode. UI doesn't tell why mercs are demotivated by not liking some other merc in your squad. Explosive launchers are pretty OP, meanwhile enemies never walked into my proximity mines. I wish enemies would use smoke grenades more often. Mist and sandstorm are pretty annoying because you can deal full damage only at close range - would be better if weather effected visibility instead. Sniper meta is also OP, but needs lots of resources to work in said weathers. Different hostile factions don't interact with each other. There's lots of unused maps in the world - would be cool to have DLC or mods that enable combat opportunities in those areas as well. Defending settlements is much harder than attacking. Using automatic/burst fire is almost always worse option than using single shots.

It's very short and has some annoying things in it.
Good try at world building and spectacle though.
