Gameplay can be a bit tedious but I really liked the plot.

Movement options are cares about camera with A & D being additional ways to turn the camera and doesn't care about the camera with the robot slowly turning to face the direction you're trying to tell it to go before advancing. would really like A and D to be strafe buttons but that's not an option unless I hold down the mouse button the entire time. Turing is slow and not a fan of the fact that Running consuming energy that you have to expend a resource to charge and is used for other things. Not that running is that much faster so I'd rather not have running that risk losing energy I might eventually need for something else.

Tutorial is annoying. Great job telling me how to progress dialogue on the very last bit of dialogue. If you need to know the controls to reach the instructions for said controls, there's a problem. In addition, I find having about 5 times more way points that necessary silly when you also restrict the areas you can move through so much that you can only move along the path. Not that the way points do anything because you can skip them at no consequence. Then you're interrupting the gameplay constantly to display a dialogue about controls I figured out as soon as I was given control of the character. I'm not saying you shouldn't explain all your controls but don't pause the game every inches of movement to fade transition to dialogue, explain 1 button, then fade back.

inventory seemed to take too long to come up. there was a display under the number of energy cells for recharging that said not translated. I don't know what's not translated or why but I feel it would just be better if that bit of text wasn't there. I mentioned a problem with the volume in a discussion thread but beware because this game will show you how loud your set-up can be.

an Iconic deck-building Rogue-like. If you like card games and rogue-likes, this is an excellent blend of those genres. I find decks where you get plenty of cards for almost any strategy fun to play. My only real complaints are about a couple of the elites: Gremlin Nob just shuts of about half of most decks. It's pretty much never worth it to use skills any any turn except the last 2 (and using to many can really sting if you were off on when the second to last was) which means you're usually just spamming every attack you draw into until then. I don't like Snecko but acknowledge it's because I (used to) always build my decks the same way and it's what snecko is designed to ruin.

  • No ability to skip tutorial. I've been playing paper magic for 4-5 years. I don't need to be instructed on how to play.

  • There was at least one part of the tutorial I accidentally failed three times in my hurry to get it over with. Most were just click as fast as you could (little accuracy required) but then you have one little section where you start with a card you can cast but then you draw the card your suppose to cast but I'm already hellbent on clicking the ♥♥♥♥ out of that elven warrior cause it looked like I was going to have to play it. This an almost instant loss even if the tutorial didn't end before the computer killed you.

  • I felt most of the story decks were terrible, especially Jace's. You want me to take Blue and outrace White Weenies without any actual control magic? That's a disaster waiting to happen even when you're not being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by...

  • Terrible shuffling results way to frequently in either being land screwed or flooded. What's worse is the land screw never happens until the exact moment that it's crucial. What's that 1 more land and you've got this in the bag? How about a second copy of that card you're trying to cast but are missing that one extra mana you need? Didn't work, how about another? Why are you restarting? the duel isn't over yet! They might accidentally sacrifice all their creatures...

  • booster packs gets four fouls for four reasons. They're (1) terribly priced because they cost half the price of a normal pack on both MTGO or in real life but are also (2) half the size, containing only 6 cards. I guess as long as you still get a guaranteed rare+, that means less commons/uncommons but the last time I heard about 6 card packs, they had a garaunteed uncommon+ but might not include a rare. That just makes these even worse. (3) There's no benefit to buying 32 packs at the same time so you should just have a slider or drop down menu or something for buying packs. If buying a bundle of 32 packs is the same price as buying 32 individual packs, then the excitement of saving up to buy that is all gone. (4) finally, if you're going to make me buy booster packs, you could at least include a variety of options.

  • Still no ability to act during upkeep/draw unless something happens during them. Not being able to endless sacrifice my black cat to my nantuko husk during their draw step so they have to discard the only card in their hand before they get the chance to play it removes some of the fun from the game. Even worse, you can't do anything during you're opponent's main phase unless they do something which would make Rabblemaster a little broken if he was in the game. fortunately, he's not but if this is why, I'd rather have this fixed now that it's been a feature of the last 5 versions.

  • Again, some of the story mode duels. It's not fun trying to play against something you're deck very well should be inferior to. Then specifically the Eldrazi one comes to mind. I saw the 100 life and thought I might actually have fun trying to win this especially since it seemed to be hinting at Emrakul very much. But you win as soon as it's played. Not only does this completely change the point of this battle but it made the previous loss seem a little stupid since I would have "won" If I had turtled and focused more on not taking damage than dealing it.

  • The deck wizard could at least have included tri-color and/or single color decks. I mean, how hard could it be since every AI ran deck I've face is running at least 3 colors. And what's with the quest emphasis on 2 color decks?

  • I get it, you added the ability to make youre own deck but would it hurt to have a few decent prebuilts yet. Due to a glitch, I lost the contents of my first 3 packs so I don't feel I'll be making any even decent decks for a while since I only have the starter pack to work with. Or how about less coins and more pack rewards for complete story arcs. Yes, I now know that each arc gives exactly enough to buy another pack but that's not as cool as just straight up recieving the free pack. I could point you towards a cool video called "The J.C. Penny effect" and while that's not what's going on here, it's close.

Here are the few things the game managed to do right
[lsit]
  • Deck Wizard is pretty stream-lined if a little wierd. Could use to change options more dynamically with what you're choosing (for instance, don't offer an enchantment reliant card when you haven't chosen a single enchantment yet; I won't want it yet because I'm not running any though if the enchantments were offered first, I might choose them then and, thus, chose the enchantment focused card later) but was well implemented for a new feature
  • Lilli's final battle was actually fun. Between actually having a great amount of synergy and great amount of removal and card draw, the battle was challenging without actually feeling impossible or luck driven. Plus fighting 4 enemies in a row with small bonuses every time you beat one was pretty cool.
Sadly, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. If MTGO didn't cost so much or had bots will terrible decks to play against, I'd probably be playing that instead but for now, I'll have to live with this to quench my thirst for magic.

This game wants you to learn how to play it without hold your hand at all. It has a brief tutorial that will explain the basics of movement followed a few vague prompts on the last of the controls. I think one thing that might have really soured younger me's opinion of the game was that the game isn't very clear about how to continue after you've done what you can in an area. The prompt to return to the hub is a bit hidden at the start of the area and, if you miss it/can't make it back, you lose the information on how to go home. With a bit of age and a better ability to pay attention to even small things, I think I've gotten a much better grasp on how things works.
