Multiplayer is a casino dressed up as an FPS. It's still fun but every component of this game is designed for maximum engagement and the veneer of finely tuned shooting doesn't totally manage to hide it. I'll give a positive recommendation but like with casinos you probably only want this experience in small doses.

So this is my favourite multiplayer FPS game ever. It's also not perfect and there are a handful of relatively minor bugs, balancing errors, and questionable design choices that you may eventually pick up on given enough time. But the WWI setting is fully realized and the core gameplay has been iterated on to pretty close to perfection. The Operations gamemode, which features something kind of like multiplayer campaigns, offers both some genuinely nail-biting battles and an uncommon level of strategic depth. Long story short, you should absolutely play this game, but you should also play it on properly managed community servers, and you should play it for the fantastic multiplayer and not the passable but still pretty humdrum singleplayer campaign. Jerry don't know us Brits!

This game sucked and its positive reception completely baffles me. I was basically agnostic regarding the original Metro 2033 and its sequel Last Light and thought they were competent if somewhat unremarkable shooters, but this game felt a substantial step backwards on multiple fronts. It's a terrible stealth game and felt to me like a worse shooter than the previous two games. The sound design is awful and much of the game is filled with interminable poorly delivered dialogue spoken by a character cast of dullards. The bulk of the playtime felt to be comprised of quicktime events and ponderous cutscenes and the nonlinear "open world" components add absolutely nothing of value. To the very limited credit of Exodus, a few segments, such as a journey into a den of mutated spiders and an encounter with cannibals, still felt fun, but they are also mostly just rehashes of stuff from the previous two games. The Rage series, which is hardly the pinnacle of FPS gaming, still managed to do this exact game way better.

It's imperfect. The story covers little meaningful ground and the game's stakes are less ambitious than perhaps they should be. But as a journey into an alarmingly plausible dystopia, it's unfortunately just about as good as it gets. Features some great side quests that often hit harder than the main story.

Just as with Hearts of Iron III and Darkest Hour, the AI in this game is incapable of logical high level decisionmaking and is entirely reliant on scripted events to take action. Once the game diverges from the script, the AI is paralysed. The rest is just dressed up spreadsheets.

It's good and it's worth your time but it's not great. The superlative art and sound design go a long ways and I loved most of the puzzles, but the 1994 gameplay doesn't always hold up, there are a handful of bugs, and the final fight with SHODAN is a major letdown. Arkane's similar Prey, a descendent rather than remake of System Shock, is better.

For the third game in a row, Lara, made temporarily bereft of her equipment, tangles with an incompetent cult, supernatural army, and lost civilization while searching an exotic locale for a magical MacGuffin. The recycled narrative would be tolerable, if hardly praiseworthy, if the game focused on its strong puzzle mechanics rather than attempting to switch mediums and become a movie; instead, much of your time is spent on cutscene tedium and gaudy quick time events. Exacerbating this problem is the reality that the protagonist, one of gaming's most iconic characters, is reduced to little more than a personalityless do-gooder. Gorgeous environmental design is wasted on this otherwise paint-by-numbers piece of software.

Review is for the campaign only, which is a bit of a shame because the other parts of this content-rich game are substantially better. Anyways, bar possibly only Ghosts' atypically bland offering, this is the worst Call of Duty campaign by a fair margin. The plot may or may not make sense, but I couldn't tell you because I'm not interested in reading an offshoot comic book and decyphering coded loading screen texts to figure it all out. The real killer is that the set pieces aren't up to Call of Duty's usual sky-high standards.

Some five million Wehrmacht soldiers died in WW2; if this game has anything to say about it, they came in about three total varieties and you alone were responsible for killing something like four in five of them. Good overall but shows its age.

Here's a game that offers you an evocative world to explore and a number of fabulous stealth mechanics, and then does everything it can to make you not give a rat's ass about it all. The voice acting sucks, your character spends most of the game accomplishing perfunctory tasks at the behest of a group of layabouts, and the morality system disincentivizes you from taking advantage of many of the most interesting tools in your arsenal. So, great game, yeah; just don't expect to care much that it is. Halfheartedly recommended.
