The game is genuinely fun. Paragon was the only moba I got into, but Predecessor really captures the original before the disastrous decisions that eventually ended Paragon. Pred at least seems to be in good hands.

Some of the worse aspects of the game generally come from other players (which seems infamous with mobas), but so far I've had far more good games than bad games.

The main discussions about playing the game or not is around its longevity as a game within a community that generally seems a bit unhinged (maybe it's a moba thing). It's a free-to-play game that by the gameplay alone is enough to keep me playing and slowly processing through the ranking system. The game stands on the merit of it's gameplay alone for me, it's a lot of fun and although hard to master with little nuances with lane management, items and map awareness. Learning the roles and being OK is sometimes enough to help win if you're team are just being good enough in their respective roles.

This game is much more popular on consoles than Steam but the game has cross-platform compatibility and the skins seem popular enough to give the impression that the game is going to be around for awhile.

A unique psychological stealth PvPvE battle-royale with some really nice meta-gaming mechanics for character/hunter progression. 50 hours in and I've not encountered any cheaters, and every death feels deserved.

Without writing a long review, I'll say this: due to the level design, sound and gameplay, its the only game I know that rewards genuine patience and stealth just as much as someone who is good at fps with zero chill. Run-and-gun is viable just as much as setting up a good ambush or stealthy approaching an area you suspect isn't safe.

There are so many things to consider when you go into a match that it generates variances of experiences that leaves me with memorable situations I think about when I'm not playing...which for me personally is a rare thing these days.

if its a game that sounds like you might like it, you probably will.

I'll hide this bit down here....since I don't know how to sell the experience, but this is the only game where I can spend over 35 minutes in one spot listening/watching while knowing someone else was in the same area and have a crazy nerve-wracking experience.

Pretend this game is System Shock 3 and enjoy!

The game can drag slightly in the middle/end but this is due to moving between areas frequently and the loading times.

If you remotely enjoyed Bioshock, System Shock or Deus Ex (the original and the last 2 by Eidos), you will probably love this game.

Faithful UFO:Enemy Unknown remake, and just as addictive and fun. Plenty of mods to keep the game fresh as time goes on.

Its XCOM: Enemy Unkown for adults. Its not as glitsy as Firaxis's take on the game but its just as tense, and has much more atmosphere.

Great music, amazing art style, and brilliant story-driven gameplay. Its not a game I would usually choose to play, but the survival element and migration aspect was very appealing. You really get a sense that the land and everyone in it are experiencing a great calamity and with the encounters you experience on your journey, there is a sense of urgency and survival.

My complaints are the length of the game and the price. The game is pretty short, and you think you can level up more characters before the end but thats not the case, I ended up with medium level characters for the last boss because I spread the points a bit to liberally. I had focused on a few characters, but replaying a new game you know you can ditch and forget some characters over others, mainly picking characters for their ability over anything else.

The game does have replay value, and its fun to know what you will do next time knowing what happens, but after that your only left with multiplayer, or maybe replaying it to find out alternatives to minor narratives along the game. The current price is a bit much, but not too far from what I would expect to pay for a quality (if not short) game like this.

Its a very good game, and very enjoyable and does a great job at sucking you into the world (wait till you see the map, all that lore!). Hopefully Stoic will make the next game in this trilogy a bit longer, but apart from that its a winning gameplay formula and style.
