A more appropriate title for this game would be "Space Salvagers" instead of "Space Engineers". Because currently, as the game stands, salvaging ships is just about all you can do to get raw materials thanks to a game breaking bug that has effectively gimped ore generation causing some, or all ores not to spawn in your game world. The developers have taken a hands off approach to this bug and obviously do not see it as a pressing issue and have given no ETA as to when it will be patched.

If you can pioneer past that bug, the game is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool. This game is basically minecraft in space. You can build space stations, space ships, satellites, and mine asteroids. If you get an erection taller than the statue of liberty when thinking about space exploration, or anything to do with space (like I do), this is THE GAME FOR YOU!

Pretty fast paced FPS game, keeps you on your toes and requires you to be alert at all times. Very heavy emphasis on teamplay, things can get down to the wire VERY quickly.

Great game, I bought it over halloween and have enjoyed it.

Pretty good WW2 RTS game. The "ruses" are bonuses you put on sectors. You can hide units, reveal enemy positions etc with them. Game is also extremely simple and easy to play, there isn't a complex tech tree at all.

This game happens to be the only game I know of where I can amass a fleet of B29 Superfortresses and bomb the ♥♥♥♥ out of people like they're German cities.

The game tries to be like Rainbow Six but fails miserably at it. The only scenarios I can see someone purchasing it would be as a gag gift, your friends on skype wanting to buy a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game (four pack!), or if you're an amateur game reviewer who reviews bad games.

I've played the DayZ mod for Arma 2, I would not recommend buying this game in its current state for newcomers to the series, you will only become frustrated with the buggy/glitchiness of the game. People like to pull the "Oh it's an alpha" card to cover Rockets ass (the creator of DayZ), shut the ♥♥♥♥ up, it's been in Alpha for 2 years now.

Long story short, just stick with the DayZ mod for Arma 2 if you're thinking about buying this, you'll get more content and a less buggy game for free. I have no idea when this game will not a buggy piece of ♥♥♥♥, might be a few more years.

Update 1/5/2016 - Game still in early access even though it came out 3 years ago, pathetic. I highly recommend downloading DayZ for Arma 2. It's much more complete and there are a bunch of fun spin offs that utilize the base DayZ mod that add base building, more weapons, vehicles etc.

Update 5/16/2017 - This game is STILL in early access! What a joke!

Update 11/14/2018 - My original review was written when I was in my senior year of high school ('13-'14) and this game is just entering beta and I'm weeks away from graduating college... LOL!
