10/10. Played the original version 3-4 times already years ago and thought it was a masterpiece back then. Didn't really expect the VR version to be anything but a 5-10 minute nostalgic excursion back into a game that I had already thoroughly enjoyed. Well... 8 hours later I wrapped it up in one single setting. Atmosphere and combat are just flat out visceral. VR is amazing for an experience like this, could not possibly recommend enough.

It's not good. It's just not good. I am an older gamer who considers the original Thief: The Dark Project the best pc game of all time. THAT Thief pushed boundaries in ways that no other game had come close to for the time and cemented it's legacy as incredibly unique and original. For it's time! Story, mechanics, characters, level layouts, maps, secrets, it was just so far ahead of it's time.

This new(er) Thief... in the meantime, well it's all been done before, and much better. I tried it back when it had just released and found it so awful that I gave up very early in. Never expected to come back to it but near 10 years later decided to give it another try. Honestly, still awful, but I knew to expect that. Had to buck up and power through to the end. It did not get any better.

Honest opinion: this is a waste of your time and money. I respect that whatever dev who made this tried to put their own spin on it... but you failed spectacularly. Your innovations were just detriments to this fantastic IP, you sh*t the bed. If you can stomach old tech then I'd highly recommend the original and it's fantastic sequel The Iron Age. The third installment Deadly Shadows doesn't live up to the high bar of the first two but is a very good game in it's own right.

Otherwise I would say that you're better off just skipping to the very highly rated (with good reason) spiritual successor Dishonored.

Edit: I should clarify that when I say that I think the original Thief is the best pc game of all time, what I mean is that Thief is my personal favorite for nostalgia's sake.

Won't start, googled possible fixes and asked on the forums. Nothing has worked. Until any of that changes 0/10.

Adorable fun, great characters, silly original story, lots to explore and collect, just a fresh blast of fresh air to play.

Had a flaming grizzly bear come barreling straight for me through the woods tonight. No, not an Andy Di.ck on steroids. An actual grizzly bear, set on fire by a flamethrower cultist that it had just killed beforehand. It was absolutely harrowing and beautiful at the same time. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ comet of fury from the dark woods made of fire, claws and teeth. Thank GOD for LMGs. (And fresh underwear.)

I don't write reviews normally. I look into other's reviews to influence what I buy but think I've maybe ever written 2-3 myself. This game hit me right in the feels and hard at that. Fantastic story writing, the voice acting is way above par and the combat is gritty and satisfying. The conclusion went 180 degrees opposite of what I expected which I absolutely adored for being nothing predictable. From the strength of the trailer I paid full price for this which is something I nearly never do but am glad that I did as I would like to see this developer go on to make more games like this. Tremendously great game.

Edit: I swear that my grammar isn't this horrific normally, I had at least half a dozen strong drinks about the time I finished HellBlade and my fuzzy euphoria didn't lend itself to writing.

tl:dr Game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome

After hours of stabbing, shooting and exploding baddies it can be pretty relaxing to tend to your own little virtual garden. Music is soothing but could leave you drowsy, also the snail is CUTE!

Fantastic little casual game if you are a fan of the older exploring platformers like Spyro / Jak and Daxter. Really liked the rough craftsy art style and a very nice tribute to the legend of Bob Ross. Surprisingly detailed for such a simple younglings game, a great way to kill about 8-10 hours.

Bloody good fun old boy! Definitely for those that enjoy a bit of heavy stealth along with running for your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ life!

Difficulty curve was quite steep at first. You will have to come to your own realization how to best handle every different encounter with your hunting adversaries. Hunters will be the most often encountered, I highly reccommend not engaging any group of three or more unless its late game and you have the very rare rifle with ammunition to spare. Far more often than not, discretion will be the better part of valor, think about the reward versus the risk. You can only save at the center of the beginning island and any boat dock. They have unlimted units while you have.. well, admittedly unlimiited lives. But hey! You probably want the best ending score right?!

With the axe, if you're lucky enough to find one, you can circle strafe around one or two hunters until you hear them let off both barrels with their shotgun, then quickly close straight in for the kill! Don't let them backpedal, sprint. Make sure to check your surroundings, might be that a hunting party or two heard the shots and are now zeroing in on your position. If its safe, then loot them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for a possibly working shotgun and bonus items. Traps are one of the best items in the game, learn to use them!

Honestly wouldn't bother with poachers at all. I killed a few when they first showed up but their blunderbuss, while insanely powerful at close range, seemed unnecessary seeing as how a single shot required a 2x1 space in your inventory. And basically underperformed with dynamite which seemed far more worth carrying for tough enemies, as in squires or horse riders, or groups of softies guarding fragments.

Early Access Review
This game is incredible.

I don't know how the devs managed to make this so simple and yet so incredibly micromanagingly complex at the same time. The early game learning curve is like a brick wall so expect to have your teeth kicked down your throat several times while learning the ropes. During the tutorial I had one hero die inside the second round of the second fight with the other barely scraping through with hardly any sanity left over.

However if you hang in there and once you can field an effective group that starts turning the tide the satisfaction is that much sweeter. Amazing gothic artwork, incredible sense of dread, narrator literally could not be more perfect. The transition from early to middle (and I'm assuming to late) game keeps you from getting comfortable. The only reason I've shelved it until release is so that I can have room on my hero roster for the inclusion of the actual Darkest Dungeon.
