In the great distance, the shadow of the omnicube started to appear. The cube loomed over much of our sector, placed far before father’s time. Like the sun in the noon, or a mountain that touched the skies, the omnicube stood unnoticed, floating, with its blueish green glow.

We knew very little about it, only that it allows us to breathe the air our ancestors once had. Father would tell us about each component of the O-Cube - the chain of strength, the cords of might, the glass of time. He would boast about the ancient engineers that created it; how they sacrificed almost everything in its desperate assembly.

Some say that the cubes are unnecessary, that they have already fulfilled the purposes of prior generations. Father says that if even one of the cubes of destroyed, we would be destined to perish.

I can’t help from stopping in front of it, hypnotized from its unnatural glow.
