Well-thought economy mechanics match perfectly the fast-paced action where high APM is not required. Territory control is the most important, so you have to expand while crippling your opponent's expansion. Keep in mind where you wage your battles as the one that will reclaim the wreckage can get an economic advantage.

Game interface is smooth, for example you can move units by drawing a line. It's easy to start with the game and over time you will find mechanics which will remove most of the nuisances. You can definitely feel you're fighting your opponent not the game itself.

Your units will do their best while you're not paying enough attention: skirmishers will kite slow units, artillery will flee if enemy is getting close, raiders will zig-zag to avoid slow projectiles, damaged units can be told to automatically retreat for repairs.

Most units have longer range when firing from high ground, explosions will shape the landscape and a strategic nuke will level the whole area. You can also change terrain with your constructors.

Communication and cooperation is important in team games (up to 16v16) and you have every tool to help you: drawing on map, pings, labels, lending units and resources between allies. Also extra resources that you don't have storage for will automatically be shared among your teammates.

Only two kinds of resources: metal and energy. Their concept is easy to understand but sufficiently complex at the same time thanks to "overdrive" system - spare energy will increase production of nearby metal extractors.

At the beginning of a match you will choose one of 11 factories for free, which can be considered your faction. You can immediately build any unit, so every unit is viable and balanced, just some of them will take too long to complete with early-game economy. Strider Hub is the only form of technological advancement - it cannot be chosen for free at the beginning and it allows to build some special units. You can also later on build different factory to expand your unit selection.

It's simply the best RTS game and it's free so give it a try!
