No, it shows you a server when you aren't. There are 3 or 4 people on my friends list this happens to.

Hmm. I'm also "in" TF2 an awful lot... Not playing but I hate waiting for it to launch so much, I just leave it running in the background quite a bit.

That's because the Master server keeps showing him online and in TF2 when he isn't. Happens to a few accounts but mostly to Doc. Wonder if it's a Mac client thing.
