I'll be honest at first the reviews had me concerned about even downloading ZMR, but I'm glad I went for it anyway because I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Granted I did have very low expectations going in, the last game I played like this was God Mode and anyone who bought that knows how it turned out.

I don't see how people say its P2W, regular guns can be either rented or permanently unlocked with either EMP or Gold you earn in game. Special items like ZK and Assault guns do have added benefits like larger magazine sizes, which you could get mods for you regular guns anyhow, but any significant damage buffs with those weapons are restricted to certain PVE modes.

A decent selection of the clothing can also be unlocked with Gold, the better looking stuff will cost you money through EMP though these are "Outfits" so they're complete sets that it doesnt seem you can mix and match. However that does bring me to an issue I have with the game.

The way EMP is priced in comparison to the Store. The minimum purchase you can make for EMP is $10 USD, there is no $5 option, this usually wouldn't be a problem except for the way some items are priced. Take one of those Premium skins for example, they cost 1195 EMP, so if you wanted a Premium skin you'll be expected to pay out $20 with points left over. I absolutely hate when games do this, if you can't make it a flat price for a skin at least add a $5 option in the game so players won't be left with a large amount of point's left over especially if there's nothing they want but one skin.

The game uses Revive Tokens in PVE which originally I didn't like the idea of but the more I played, the more I became use to it and at the rate they're given out in this game you honestly won't have to worry about having to pay out for them.

I'll admit I haven't played much of the PVP but there are quite a few modes, the three I played are two standard modes, Team Deathmatch and a Sabatage (plant the bomb) mode. The third mode I played is called Mercs vs Monsters, where you are put on two teams One playing a group of mercenaries and the other a group of Monsters/Zombies. you start off with basic characters which cost 0 points to spawn as, as the game goes on and you get kills you earn points which yo ucan use to spawn as more powerful characters with different abilities. You play one round as the Mercs and one round as the Zombies, whichever has the highest at the end of the game or reaches the score cap wins.

The maps could be better designed but for a game that involves running around and shooting everything, it does the job. My hope is that in the future they go a bit more out there with level designs, things that pay tribute to arcade games like House of the Dead or Metal Slug which is a lot of what this game reminds me of, an arcade game.

Over all I don't understand the hate the game has gotten and calling it P2W in my opinion is silly, the game isnt perfect but it isnt the worst thing ever either, and it definitely isn't as bad as God Mode was. Perhaps the problem is that is trying to grab the attention of too many types of people with the zombies, dinosaurs, ect but at the end of the day its fun and that's what's important in a game to me.

EDIT: After a night of sleep I remembered one thing I wanted to touch on that I would like to see the devs fix. When you create a lobby but want to switch modes, you have to leave the last lobby you made and make a new one. While this isnt game breaking and doesn't take long, it sure is annoying, hopefully they manage to fix it.

Early Access Review
One hell of a good time, I'm wrapping up the first campaign of 3 (as of right now) at 6 hours. I've enjoyed every bit of my time with the game, and I usually suck at Tower Defense games. I can't wait to play this online, maybe talk a friend or two into getting it. It's easily one of the best Early Access purchases I've made.

I haven't had any technical issues with the game, and both Keyboard and Controller work great.

One of the most addicting games I've played, interesting mix of defense and TF2 in 3rd person. Anyone can play this game, even if you can't aim to save your life. Oh... and you get to fight a giant chicken, how can you not want it now?
