Great game to chill with on the Steam Deck.

Game is good.

Sharks are jerks.

I had heard the glowing praise for the Mass Effect series. It never interested me. All the animations look stilted and I wasn't interested in sitting through hours of conversation trees, trying to min/max a "best" outcome. The first time I played, I bounced after a couple hours; it felt like a dated game engine.

While I was waiting for the Starfield release, I decided to give it a go.

Holy cow. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Once I got off the Citadel and started to explore, the game began to grow on me. By the second game, I found myself doing all the side missions because I didn't want it to end. By the end of the third game...

This is easily the best RPG narrative I have ever played. The magic of this game isn't in the moment-to-moment game play, but in the cumulative effect of getting to know all the characters. Decisions made in ME1 and ME2 carry over and resonate throughout the series.

I was an emotional wreck by the end of the trilogy. I can't think of another video game that has affected me the same way. The Witcher 3 has some wonderful moments, but not to this extent. The writing is fantastic. The voice acting is pitch-perfect throughout the series. I cared about every companion I encountered. Characters I disliked the moment I laid eyes on them grew to become some of my favorites by the end. I felt every loss and every survival. It's remarkable that this level of excellence held up throughout the series.

I can't believe it took me this long to play it.

Buy it.

If you're surprised with the state of the game on release, you haven't been paying attention to DICE. It is a hot mess. A glorious, hot mess.

This is the game the Rage series wishes it was. Great looking game. Very atmospheric.

A bit repetitive and the controls are a little janky but it's been a lot of fun.

One of the better trainers out there. It's really coming along. I'd love for them to add some recoil compensation training to the mix.

This is one of the most satisfying games I've played in years. There is a fascinating balance between loneliness and connectivity that fits perfectly in this lost year of COVID. I loved exploring this beautiful and lonely world. Yet even in the most remote corners I would find a "Keep On Keeping On" sign or a perfectly-placed ladder from a fellow gamer.

The main narrative is o.k. I found the world and connecting the community together to be far more compelling and rewarding. I was sad when my work was done. I wanted to continue to wander and discover new things in a way I haven't had since Skyrim.

This is the first game I've 100% in a long time.

A wonderful, chill game. Art style is great but it's the game's sound effects that make this game shine.

This is a rabbit hole for modders. I've spent more time modding this game than playing it.

You've come a long way, baby.

The additions over the year have made this game a classic. I don't know when this content train will end but I'm here for it.
