Such an enjoyable game. I held off from buying this but the STEAM sale this holiday season finally gave me the excuse to take the plunge.

If you are looking for action, then you should probably take a pass on this, but if you are into exploring a vibrant, interesting environment in the vein of Dear Esther, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter or Gone Home, then you should already own this.

There is a greater sense of engagement than most walking simulators. The narrative strikes a nice middle ground between the ambiguity of Dear Esther and the investivative feel of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. There is no face-to-face time, but the characters are engaging- particularly Delilah.

One of the unexpected treats for me was the audio commentary tour of the game after my first playthrough. I love that they added the little detail of having commentary delivered via cassette tapes scattered around the map.

I feel a little guilty that I didn't support the developers through a full-priced purchase but I'm very happy that I finally took the plunge. Thank you, Campo Santo.

This game has terrible optimization. I rage-quit regularly as some jerk with a KAR98 head snipes me out of nowhere. I still haven't gotten a chicken dinner after 100 hours of playing.

It is also the most fun I've had playing a game with friends in YEARS.

Never liked the original Isaac when I got it at a Steam sale years ago; the controls were too obtuse and made the game far more frustrating than it needed to be.

This game, however, is glorious. Would have never tried it if I hadn't watched a few Northernlion playthroughs on YouTube. Now, this is one of my absolute favorites. It strangely reminds me of the card game Solitare. It's all about playing smart and being willing to accept that sometimes you just get a lousy hand on a run.

Endless permutations. Endless possibilities.

The perfect blend of gravitas, over-the-top weapons, and robotic Nazis. NPC characters are genuinely engaging and smartly-written. The maps are well-designed with stealth and gunz-a-blazin' options equally available to the player (for the most part).

I only had one hiccup towards the end when I was hung out to dry at a checkpoint with no stealth option, too-little ammo, and stuck in a corner as waves of armored Nazis pinned me down and forced me to drop the difficulty level enough to work my way out. Stealth AI is good, though there are line-of-sight moments where soldiers should probably have noticed the bodies I was piling up. Still, I wasn't looking for Thief or Dishonored-level sneaking.

Gorgeous looking game even on Medium levels. At higher texture resolutions I had to knock the antialiasing down to keep the frame rate at respectable levels.

It seems that every winter season, I get a longing to play this game again.

There is not much I could say that hasn't been endlessly debated online since this game came out in 2011.

I loved it from the start but it truly began to shine when the modding community got a hold of it. SkyUI, A Better World Map, Birds of Skyrim, Better Snow, Frostfall and numerous other mods have greatly enriched my gaming experience and are the reason that I am once again installing this game for another play through.

There is little I can add that hasn't already been written in the last year. I love the sense of humor and the play mechanics are fantastic. I only wish that I had friends who owned it for the co-op experience.

Terraria is one of the best games I've played in years. It strikes a perfect balance between the casual gamer I've become and the hardcore gamer I used to be. This is a game where I can play for a few minutes and walk away yet there is enough depth to keep me coming back for over a hundred hours of gameplay. What really makes this title shine, however, is the fact that game updates actually hone and deepen the gameplay rather than serve as post-distribution fixes. This is a game that takes some time to sink into your bones but once it does, it is hard to put down.
