I think the bad reviews are due to not understanding the game play properly.

Probably the most ruthless online MMO I have ever played.
You will be a victim, you will get angry and rage and then you will get revenge.
To know you can affect other random people in the same way you have been affected will make it all better.
Once you get to know the ruthless aggressors, you will make some decent online friends.
Definitely go free to play for a month and see what you think.

UPDATE 4: Still has issues but is improving, might change review again if they stop fixing it and start milking it with DLC


UPDATE 3: Stay away from the steam forum of this game if you have any criticism of the game.
The moderators/devs will ban you for the most ridiculous pretexts.
They know the game is a mess, and they are on the last milking run - beware

Well, Here comes my first negative review of a game.
Might be entertaining for a teenager who has just discovered their first ever grand strategy game.
If you are a seasoned vet who requires hours of entertainment in discovering, learning, mastering game mechanics, this is most likely not for you.
Come back in 2 years with $200 in your pocket for game + DLC's and this review may be irrelevant.

Not a bad game.
