I absolutely loved this and really think someone could take the game, the IP, fluff it up, and rerelease. MMO genre still has nothing amazing coming out despite hugely expensive development projects. Maybe Ashes will be great, probably not. ESO? Meh. We need something like this, or WoW 2, to scratch the itch.

So far, so amazing. I have yet to be 100% convinced that all of the changes are balanced, but I'm also excited for what they bring. For example, the apparently uncapped Myth unit resource let me powerbuild 30 phoenixes, and especially after a monument is constructed, they're insanely powerful. I think in a tight multiplayer game this probably won't be an issue, and it gives hilariously game-ending power vs. a computer. Similarly, reuseable god powers at a 75% discount in price and cool-down are .... wow. The meteor power is more damaging than I remember.

A little worried about AI - I played against moderate in a FFA and I didn't see much evidence that they fought each other, and none of them captured a second Town Center.

Still, the smoothness, graphics, thought to the QoL improvements, etc., all have me convinced that this was an excellent purchase. Excited to see what they do with the previously underwhelming Chinese exp, and really can't wait to see what the next civ after that is - Aztec, perhaps?

Love this so far. FWIW I don't really play Soulsborne games and suck at them pretty badly. I liked Elden Ring for a bit, and I can see it's probably a better game for polish and mechanics, let alone the open world / mount system, but I didn't click with it like I did with this one. Pieta gave me a tough time but after killing her I felt inspired and moved through the next 3 bosses pretty quickly.

There are some nasty mobs, the spikeheads, for ex, and enemy placement can be a serious source of frustration, especially with getting knocked off of edges.

The art style is fantastic, the music is great, and the only crash I've had is directly on first launch -- after that, I've played for 14 hours so far with no issues. I tried a few classes before settling on the deluxe ed crusader. I'd definitely give it a positive, and while I think that those with more experience in the genre could give nuanced criticism, I've had a good time and it doesn't feel as hard or punishing as other try-hard games that I've attempted.

Fantastic game. Deserves better than Mixed Reviews. A lot of saltiness over cost, and in light of Baldur's Gate release, I get it. But honestly, it's the premier experience - the same as their historical titles are for their eras, this is *the* fantasy strategy game. It doesn't hurt that I've played since TW Medieval (the first) and that Warhammer (technically 40k but whatever) is my favorite fantasy IP.

And let's be honest, now that it's officially price-gougy and expensive, it has finally achieved true Warhammer Immersion.

The only thing I want more than anything else for this game is Nagash.

Edit: Finished Chapter 1 on Normal, 4 levels into Chapter 2. Tell me you care without telling me you care: I killed ambulls in an ambull tunnel. They nailed it :D

You're probably a heretic if:

This doesn't make your eyes bleed with awe for the Omnissiah.
You don't praise the Emprah, purge, repeat.
You're not using your chainsword lock-on awesomeness.

I've played for an hour and I'm so impressed with what Auroch Digital has put together. As a 40k guy, they've clearly read up on the lore. Finding a secret and having it be a clip of Kraken Bolter rounds? Amazing.

The enemies have thus far been great, just getting into Flamers and Chaos Terminators in the 3rd level. The pixel style is fantastic, the retro gameplay is there, but it has some modern improvements, like the chainsword lock-on, bouncing grenades, etc. The charge is a lot of fun, and it's wild seeing legit sprites in a game that runs this smooth. Circle strafing a corpse is just as funny as it was back in DOOM in the 90s and a lot easier without playing via arrow keys.

Can't wait to get more environs, and I'm not gonna lie, I could see this being a franchise. Imagine purging Armageddon as Chaplain Grimaldus and fighting the orcs, or descending into a Necron Tomb or even...a reimagined Space Hulk. Something less like a turn based tactics game and more like DOOM meets Sin of Damnation. Let's go!

♥♥♥♥ - only one I can think of. Krak grenade drops Heretic Marines in one shot, which seems to be a bit much for krak. Melta, sure. When the only ♥♥♥ is a lore nitpick, I feel pretty damn good about the game.

Final thoughts - maybe they should rename this Boltgun: the Saga of Cato Sicarius /s lol but really, this "sternguard veteran" is a GD monster.

Fantastic game, love it, feels great for the price, looks good, and oozes love for Warhammer 40 'thousand'.

Having an absolute blast!

Honestly, I think it's > Overprime. I liked OP, and either is better than fault. OP matches are too long, and have too many active items. This is all passives, which suits my playstyle. Matches are 20-40 minutes (20 for forfeit due to stomp, 40 at the outside for a competitive match).

I'll play whichever game wins the battle, but this one feels tighter. Better ping, and I also don't miss the stealth "stay out of the tall grass!!! (thanks Ajay)" grass that is in OP. Good jungle, I do want a bigger map but I'll take what I can get.

Hero balancing is good. OP has better item art, no doubt, and their shop feels cleaner, but I got used to this pretty quick. I like that I get 2 pots and 2 detectors per base visit and I don't have to buy them or my base item. I would like a reorganization of the items just a teense to make carry's be able to do something other than just crit, although at the same time, i did a speed build on Sparrow that i was pretty happy with.

Can't wait for more heros and cosmetics. I think this one will win the race over OP due to financial backing and a tighter, more responsive game. Feels more skill based and less Heroes of the Storm brawler type.

LMK your thoughts and see you in Agora! (or w/e it's called now).

It's been a real treat to play this. It feels more like multiplayer Skyrim than ESO ever could. The gathering is actually fun, the visuals are great. I'm not a fan of the overall renaissance/colonial period aesthetic, but the quality of gameplay is high enough that I'd still rather play this than the more high fantasy worlds I usually gravitate towards.

Fantastic DLC and Taurox is a treat to play -- he's an absolute powerhouse that reminds me a lot of Tyrion with the Sword of Khaine. I focused on building him for speed first and he is basically mount level speed (I think) and smashes through lords with ease. Granted, I was 10 levels higher but went through Malekith like a hot knife through coconut oil.

All in all the beastmen are fantastic now and I love the mechanic, especially being able to make razed areas essentially uncolonizeable unless the enemy is able to topple the herdstone, which gets a sizeable garrison even at level 1.

Summoning the other legendary beastlords is very slick and overall it's an A rated way to close out an fantastic chapter. My only complaint is that it feels a little simplistic, but at the same time that's basically beastman RP style gameplay right there. I wanted to savor the DLC so I was playing WRE in Attila to while the time until release and I thought it would be boring going back to a historical TW -- not the case. There is so much more to manage in Attila than the Taurox campaign that this did feel a little bit brainless steamrolly at times. Again, though, that's beastmen in a nutshell for you.

Very excited to try the new dwarf mechanics next.
