Alright, everyone has complained about Epic. I say meh. We have 101 accounts for Facebook, google, and other things. Why does one more matter?

Leaving aside Epic, lets talk about the core issues.

Firstly, frame stutters ARE a thing. There is a fix, and I highly recommend it. Use Nvidia Control Panel (or your AMD app) to turn off VSync and lock your framerate at 58ish. This will remove all your performance issues and make it feel smooth.

Secondly, the game is locked at 60 FPS due to engine constraints. This is depressing, but true. Upping my framerate above the 60 lead to glitches, crashes, and the game moving at abnormal speeds, so 60 is the reasonable rate.

Finally, this game vs previous titles.

It's good. Lots of good changes to the gameplay that improves upon previous titles in the series. The backpack utilities for each class (NOT FENCER) makes them feel more versatile. Changes to the air raiders kit makes them feel more viable in all content, tho low mobility still hurts... ALOT.

The first 13 missions of the game are all kind of introductory. PLEASE GET THROUGH THESE MISSIONS BEFORE YOU JUDGE IT. The game doesn't actually start until after that. And yes, the tutorial and first 13 missions REALLY hurt it. Like, REALLY REALLY hurt it.

After that, though, the game picks up amazingly well. And yes, it's fun. The story is surprisingly decent (Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would say that about an EDF game, but I am genuinely interested in what comes next.) If you liked EDF 5, you will love this game.

Please ignore the EPIC haters. Inconvenient as an epic account may be, it's hardly the end of the world. You'd be missing out if you used that as your only reason to hate the game. And bring your friends. EDF is always more fun with a group.

Consider this game highly recommended by a big fan of the entire series! (Except Iron Rain. That was terrible.)

And they have nailed the gameplay. For a 30$ price point, it has a ton of content and lots of fun to be had with your friends! I think it is money well spent. I still remember the first time I beat some of the small bugs around with my fists. Melee could use some work, but lets be honest, that's not what this game is about. It's about confining all creatures to their proper places.

In short, Pal World is great! 5/5. Definitely bring a group.

Oh, wait, this review is for Hell Divers 2.... This is an improvement over the first game in every way. Well, it's basically the same review and I'm too lazy to delete.

Alright, having played a ton of the beta and then 10 hours in the released version, here's what you need to know.

Pros:
Excellent Gunplay
The card progression system adds a level of progression that adds a ton of replayability.
Build Diversity is a thing as you get further into the game.
Item, Money and Ammo sharing are huge during the game. Hoarding punishes your team hard. Teamwork is the focus of this game.
High skill cap. Solo plays are definitely possible if you are good. But it requires such a level of skill, it's like L4D was.
Graphics are good.
Enemy Special diversity is up from L4D (I literally got eaten alive by the Hag, kinda like the witch but far scarier.)
Horde spawning is improved since the beta.
Negative effects and Special diversity is increased since the beta.
Campaign Playthroughs are difficult, and encourage a party of friends.

Cons:
Now, despite all the things that are awesome about this one, there are some really big flaws. Dev's, please take note of what I am saying here, this is what upsets your playerbase the most.

SOLO PLAY IS NOT A THING.
You can achieve NO progression by playing solo. You can't even do a solo private lobby. You must be playing with someone else.
AI for your teammates is BEYOND TERRIBLE. Worse even than L4D AI companions were, and that's a low bar.

AND THERE IS NO VS MODE LIKE THERE WAS IN L4D. This is probably your biggest problem. They have their own flavor of PVP, it SUCKS. Like, don't play it. I have played a couple of matches, it's not fun.

Also, afk timers for players need to be shortened dramatically. Waiting for 5 minutes every level before you can move or do anything really throws off the pacing.

All in all, the game has EXCELLENT potential. If the devs can address the cons listed here, I would gladly give a 10/10. Right now, I can only give it a 7/10.

Excellent coop game. Completed with my 2 groups of friends, and there is a lot to love.

65 hours put into it here, and I can honestly say that this game is a classic that you can play local coop or online. As long as you have friends, definitely a good purchase for some fun!

Graphically:
Much better than previous iterations. Seeing chitin come off a monster as you lay into it with some heavy firepower feels good.

Also, the levels are much larger and had more variety than previous games. Though there were also some of the same old styles as well.

Gameplay:
They added an AOE pickup radius to the classes to allow you to do more kiting and fighting than trying to get those pickups. HUGE quality of life improvement.

Classes are fairly balanced, though Fencers have the best kit by far. Rangers are weak and need some heavy buffs to make them better.

Large battlefield maps make some of the conflicts feel epic. And the story reboot wasn't that bad either.

Cons:
Occasionally get disconnected from a game. Also need to beat the entire game before you can transition to the harder difficulties.
Random chance at weapon upgrades can also hurt the experience, but this really is a small thing with how often I got weapon upgrades as I played through.

8.5/10
