Remember the sacrifices. Remember the Ubanea Blunder. Remember the Creek. Remember the clutch of Vandalon IV. Remember the day we wiped the automatons for a brief moment. Remember the strength of Community. Remember this day.

Early Access Review
Neat little game. Charming characters and storylines, good voiceovers, well designed auto battles in which ai priorities seem to be on point and some available strategies through the different amounts of gladiators to choose from.

Sadly a bit short, which doesn't mean that much counting in that it's early access and probably a bit easy as well. Started on the highest difficulty with perma death and no gold compensation from the get go and got through the whole game in my 6th attempt or so while going to championships as soon as possible.

Edit: Patches changed the balance of some skills so the following isn't what the game is up to date. Can't say for sure that it still is too easy but since the skillchanges from patches don't take too much out of the op'ness and just tweak problems a little I won't replay it just to try and find out.

Game is great. Was fun and addicting. Still don't recommend it. Felt like a Visual novel after the first 3 missions because you can combo some skills to oneshot every enemy you encounter from there on. Strong weapons need points to be used, which you can also use for movement and other stuff. You can get those points from some pillars and dead enemies, so in the first missions they were actually hard to get. Then you unlocked the "no need for points just shoot once" skill and the whole points mechanic was useless. Take the strongest weapon you got available and gg. Or take the Skill that gives you the weapon passives. Some passives from strong weapons being "No need for points just shoot once" so you had 2 free shots with a oneshotting gun. Take 2 high dmg aoe weapons and you can clear a whole fight with just 1 of your 6 tech-priests in one turn. Skill 2 or more tech-priests the same way and you can constantly shoot 4 point weapons which are the strongest in the game. Or in other words. One turn to kill the Final Boss. He didn't even attack. And I accepted the mission as soon as I got it, so no grinding involved.

Overall the game got good music, interesting mechanics, and much lore to learn, but sadly no challenge at all, which makes me think that I should have rather bought some 40k books instead of a 30 bucks game, that feels like a novel with battles being "how do I waste the least time because I won't die anyway".
