Have you ever enjoyed Hunt: Showdown, or thought about picking it up? Now might be the best time in nearly a year to do so. The game is on sale, and more importantly—it’s the most enjoyable it has been in the last 10 months.

I originally left a positive review, but by the end of 2024, I changed it to negative. The game had fallen into a terrible state in terms of quality and balance—just thinking of the "Shredder" triggers PTSD in me. And there was so much more...

However, things are turning around.

Crytek launched their own version of “Operation Health” in 2025, and the results are finally showing. We’re halfway through the year, and for the first time in a while, real progress is visible. I genuinely commend Crytek for this. Acknowledging missteps and making an effort to fix them is something many studios fail to do—but Crytek is doing it.

Several questionable design decisions have been reversed. More importantly, Crytek has made community survey results public and has clearly acted on player feedback. Transparency and responsiveness—long overdue—are now part of their process.

As someone who stopped playing due to the game’s state, I’m happy to say: it’s worth jumping back in to see what’s changed. And if you’ve never played Hunt: Showdown before, this is the first time since the 2024 engine update that I can wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try.

And to Crytek, if you're reading this:
The progress you've made is real and appreciated. Please stay the course. But the work isn’t done yet—and that’s okay. What matters most now is consistency, transparency, and continuing to listen. You've shown that you're willing to turn things around—now show us you can keep it going. I'm rooting for you. And I'm rooting for my most played game ever!
P.S.: Please consider revisiting ping limits. High-ping players on EU servers are currently one of the biggest challenges to enjoying Hunt: Showdown. The fact that this is now a top concern—compared to the more serious issues of the past—just shows how far you’ve come. It’s a good problem to have, but one worth addressing.
