WARNING: This game is buggy, but if you played the first three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, you have already seen much worse. The devs and the modding community will 100% solve your problems in time and many have already started.

For the actual review:
If you don't have nostalgia glasses for the series, this is still a great game. For you, imagine this as gritty, dark, Fallout or open world Metro based in and around the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. If you are like me and spent years playing the old games already, this has been a dream come true. Stepping into the game initially just felt like Metro open world to me. I wasn't upset as Metro is a great series, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. However, it wasn't much longer before I finally felt it. Hanging by a campfire as stalkers tell dumb jokes and play guitar. Getting chased by bloodsuckers into an anomaly only to find out there's an artifact inside so I can pay Sidorovich's outrageous prices to get more bullets. This game is truly a successor to the legacy that is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and I get the feeling that most of the bugs and broken aspects will be worked out by the devs.

Issues:
WITHOUT mods, the game has some weird mouse smoothing that can't be turned off, mutants feel tanky, economy feels weird, difficulty settings change combat and economy without the ability to fine tune, the main story has a couple of game breaking bugs (devs have said they'll be patched in the upcoming update), the A-Life isn't functioning, etc.

WITH mods, many of these issues have been fixed by the community already at least to a point where the game is quite enjoyable. As you can see from my hours in game, I've been loving it.

I can't wait to replay this game over and over for years to come just as I've done with each of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s before it. Stay cheeki breeki, stalkers <3

Update: Devs have already removed most of the story breaking bugs, reworked a lot of other things, etc. I feel like my hope was well placed and I'm excited for the future

Fantastic game. One of those games where there's something for everyone in your friend group and working together can benefit everyone on the entire server. The devs have, so far, been not only listening, but coming up with more innovative solutions to issues that arise for players. They encourage people to leave suggestions in the Discord so please do. The more we help them understand what the players want, the better the game will become.

Do yourself a favor: Play the Advanced Training for the characters. There are nuances that the basic tutorial does not teach you. It will seem boring at first, but it is helpful

One of my favorite games now! PVP is fun, the game's atmosphere is great, community is rather helpful and friendly, and it truly feels like I'm playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. online. The further in you go the more difficult it becomes (also, pvp can hinder your quest progression), but they do have systems in place to protect you during dialogue and stuff. Emissions are great, too. Get to cover in a very large building or underground as soon as possible!

Been playing off and on since alpha. It has been a wild ride, but the game has always been fun and is so much better now. Free to play is coming out this year and I can't wait to share it with more friends and stream <3

Updated for Open Beta:

The game's servers are currently suffering, but I got to play well the first day of the Open and not only was the updated Smolensk map great, but the game itself felt so smooth. Tons of negative reviews are mostly due to the server issues at the moment. It is sad to see people give up so fast on it, but once the servers are good that shouldn't be a big issue anymore. After that, I just really need a Search and Destroy gamemode or something. If you wish Battlefield 4 existed with better movement or you've wished Battlefield games had more customization and slightly more realism, the price of Free is more than worth a try

This game, for me, is relief from anxiety.

What to say about No Man's Sky...
If you're looking for a ton of action it probably isn't where you want to go. If you're looking for exploration, a little action here and there, freedom, space trading, story, the ability to find more story by simply exploring new worlds, finding ancient artifacts, fighting pirates, building a small fleet of ships and overall just relaxing by yourself or with friends... That is what this game is to me.

I personally have issues with anxiety and depression. Playing this game on days when things are just a bit much really seems to help. I can take on pirates if I'm frustrated, I can discover story and immerse myself if I'm anxious, if I need something beautiful I can observe a simulated nature and while it isn't perfect it is still pretty nice to look at. I stream on Twitch and I can't really say if a lot of my viewers like hanging out when we play, but I know that some of them say that just watching it gives them similar feelings.

When this game first came out it has its problems, but I'd really like to thank the devs for continuing on to get it to this point. This is a game that I think I'll be coming back to for a long while. Thanks for getting this far in the text as well. Peace.

Still beta so expect issues like the netcode is a bit off, but overall great game. Maybe I'll leave a full review for it sometime in the future.
