Experienced multiple crashes before running into a game ending bug on the quad elevator. First hour or so is really well put together, but the hide from the bad thing mechanic has been way overdone, and gives the game a really shallow feeling. Also experienced some control jank that felt more like the game not recognizing inputs correctly, but only during a specific segment of the game.

It's a gorgeous and very well written title, the voice acting is stellar especially, but with the experience I had I can't possibly recommend Still Wakes the Deep.

I already payed for the game once way back in the day, now this new company wants me to pay a monthly subscription fee and be subjected to excessive microtransactions. Instead of resurrecting LiF, it's just murdered it harder.

Used to be great years and years ago when there weren't abilities or superpowers, simple loot shoot and scoot. Absolute garbage now, don't even bother.

Stop reading reviews for this and buy it. Right now. It's so good. I'm 20 hours into it and half my brain is consumed by what I can do to knock out some of the later game achievements, find new weapons and upgrades, etc.

Just buy it. Do it now.

Sept 2024 Update:
Game update ddoesn't address a ton of the concerns I've had outside of how rough the game was running. Aliens are still BS, community has shrank to the point where most games are essentially friends groups vs randos and others almost every time, and unless you have a competent team and commander it still has really bad game feel. Engine is gorgeous, game is gorgeous, but there's barely any playerbase for a good reason.

Not ready yet, while it's pretty, the engine is really rough if you don't have a really chunky GPU, the dev's started making improvements but there's a lot of progress that's still needed. In addition, playing the game itself is very much still in the early 2000s, it relies on players setting up their own servers and communities. This isn't a huge issue for many of us who started gaming in the 90s, but this is gonna throw most folks under 30 off bigtime. There is also apparently a roadmap on the way, but with how early this was released (more of a tech alpha than a developed beta), it may not matter.

There's also a lot of ridiculous balance issues. Scorpions being able to shoot over hills with serious armor piercing fire without being able to return fire to them, and crabs being able to hide under ground permanently are immensely frustrating. The few times that humans don't get BSed down early/mid game, they obliterate in late game. In contrast, there's actually two human factions, but they're just the exact same thing, zero differences so far.

I'm looking forward to this, but in a year or so when it's more fleshed out and balanced.

Broken abandonware, do not under any circumstances purchase this title. The devs left it a bug riddled nightmare and have stated they won't be fixing any of it or even finishing the game in any way. Stay away!

They made Vermintide, but better, in 40k.

It's good, get it, smash faces.

Game's stellar, 300 hours and love it.

A stellar edition to the Natural Selection franchise. I need more, I want to see them finish marrying the two.
