Verdun is unlike anyother FPS in the market. Some buzzwords I like to use are "unforgiving, squad based, trench warfare, 1 shot 1 kill, slow-paced, rythmic, and back-and-forth".

Unlike MANY other FPS', squad synergy, tactical movement, and map awareness are truly important. There is no 360NOSCOPEMLGPRO nonsense in Verdun.

There are 3 classes of squads, Recon, Rifle, and Assault. Recon squads are very fast, have high powered rifles, and can reveal enemies across the map. Rifle squads are well rounded, possessing great offensive and defensive abilities. Assault squads specialize in trench clearing, have lots of grenades, and can launch poison gas attacks to cover advances.

All are extremely important to have for each side in each match. Have too many assault squads? You will probably waste valuable time assaulting positions that are too heavily fortified? No recon squads? Good luck knowing where the best sector to attack is.

Each squad contains 4 soldiers, each specializes in a different area. To generalize you have the squad leader, fire support, rifleman, and assault, however depending on which faction you pick, each of these classes are different.

The Entante factions are Canadians (assault), Tommies (rifle), Poilus (rifle), and Chasseurs (recon). For the less educated, thats 1 Canadian, 1 British, and 2 French.

For the Central Powers, the factions are all German. This is very disappointing because I was really hoping to see Austria-Hungary. Hopefully in an update we will see Ottomans, Italians, Americans, Russians and others.

I highly recommend picking up this game if you are willing to experience a steep learning curve and die alot. But if you are not 12 years old and using your parents credit card, be an adult and pick up this game.

I can't say enough good about Thief! It is so immersive and I love how they actually force you to play the game, there are no shortcuts and the in game "help" (focus) feels right. I love that there is no fast travel, so you constantly have to move about the world. I love how many hidden treasures there are to find, and the variety of collectable items there are. I love the challenges that each client job and chapter give you, and the custom difficulty levels mean endless replay ability.

My only complaints would be the occasional pathing glitches that the AI experiences, and some occasional Audio bugs which make some voices much softer than the normal volume of the ambient voices.

9.5/10
